Author’s Note: Written for the ‘rusting’ prompt at Taming the Muse and my spn_25 table prompt #3, ‘ritual.’ This story started out as something completely different, then it morphed and grew and ate my Saturday. It’s different from my usual writing, so I’m definitely curious to see how it is received.
