Adam watched as Kris’s fingers traced over the screen, the light bright in the darkness of the older man’s room. The phone vibrated softly and Adam watched as Kris pressed the phone to his ear, already moving away from Adam, the flesh of his back pale in the moonlight.
“Hey,” Kris’s voice was soft and Adam could hear the rawness of it, remembered the way it has felt as he had wrapped those lips around his cock. He needed to remember that, needed to remember the way Kris had looked up at him as he had slipped down the man’s throat, fucking it with long strokes.
It was better than seeing the way Kris turned his body away from Adam, his face hidden in the shadows as he whispered softly “No baby it just got late, I’m sorry, no I am just going to crash at Adam’s tonight.” Adam shifted on the bed, moving closer to Kris as he wrapped an arm around the man’s waist, pulling him closer.
Kris tensed his voice forcibly light and he told his wife “Yeah, Adam’s great. I don’t think he minds letting me stay too much.” At that Adam let his lips press against Kris’s bare shoulder, his tongue trailing the sweet skin, his teeth nipping slightly.
“Okay,” Kris breathed out into the phone, relaxing against Adam, his head tilting to the side to give Adam better access to his neck. “See you in the morning, I love you too.” Kris hung up the phone, and carefully set it on the bedside table, turning to Adam with a crooked smile.
Adam placed a smile on his lips, letting it stretch wide until it almost felt real. His chest felt tight his eyes burned but he just smiled his words soft and insistent “Let’s go back to sleep.” It felt like he was pleading with Kris, to just let them go back to their own little world. Where Kris didn’t have a wife and wasn’t going to leave him for her in the morning, like he did every morning they could steal time together.
Kris gave him a soft smile his head nodding and Adam moved back up on the bed, laying down with Kris curling into his side. Adam pressed a kiss to Kris’s forehead, wiping at his damp eyes now that Kris couldn’t see him.
The smile on Adam’s face was fake, everyone could see that as he lounged in the chair, his painted nails drumming on the wood of the table as the producers discussed his career, what he was doing, what he had done, what they had planned for him to do next.
Usually he would be right there with them, hammering out details and making sure things went his way as much as possible but his eyes were focused on his cell phone, lying on the table in front of him. His eyes burned and he could feel a yawn working its way up his throat. Jet lag was always a bitch but this time the normal weariness was replaced with a nervous energy.
He was going to be getting on a plane soon anyway so he could just sleep there, he just didn’t know where he was heading yet.
He nodded at something his agent said his body already going on alert as the screen lit up and he grabbed it, reading the text message.
Bring a grass skirt, Hawaii it is, you better come!
Adam smiled already texting back to Allison that he would while thinking of whom he needed to call to get things in order and get on a flight out. Allison had let him know last week that she wanted to do something big and crazy for her 21st birthday and he had been the one to suggest that she turn it to a vacation type of thing, a whole week of celebrating her.
To be honest getting away for a week sounded amazing too, and it had been a long time since he had last saw Allison. Even had award shows and red carpet events they hadn’t had much time to just be them, someone was always pulling them in another direction.
He tried not to think of the other person that had formed their small group, the one person that he refused to talk about but couldn’t hear enough about. It still hurt, but it had been the best thing, he still believed that, even if that belief had just made things worse each day.
Adam watched as Kris talked to Katy again. It was morning and the younger man was pacing back and forth across the floor of Adam’s hotel room. Kris’s voice was low but Adam could see the strain on it as he argued with Katy.
It didn’t take much to know what that argument was about; Adam had known he was pushing it when he had asked Kris to stay longer, to have breakfast with him. Kris wasn’t his; he didn’t get to keep him. That ring on his hand declared to the world and Adam that Kris belonged to someone and Adam should let him go.
He didn’t want to, it was the last thing he wanted to do. Everything with Kris felt right, perfect, but it was all a lie built on someone else’s heartache. Adam watched Kris rub a hand over his face, saying something into the phone before he closed it and the dark haired man knew what he had to do.
He couldn’t be this person anymore; he couldn’t let Kris be this person anymore.
