Title: After a really good myth
Author: Sunnyd_lite
Fandom: Firefly – During Our Mrs. Reynolds
Pairing: Wash/Zoe
Rating: Rish
Prompt: Myth
A/N: Been a while since I played here! Enjoy
Wash slowly took a step backwards. And another step. And another until his progress was stopped by a chair against the wall. He stumbled and fell into it, bruising his tailbone. "No really, I didn't kiss her. She was telling me a story." He was wiggling, trying to stand.
She smiled, keeping the high ground was something she'd taught him. Given his wince, he'd misread that smile. She didn't mind.
"A really good myth. You've got to believe me." And that was her mister, still talking when anyone with a spot of sense would have frozen. And that was the truth of it. She did believe him. Would even without that goose egg on his head. Her man might talk a bit of a game, though even that seemed to focus on adventures before they'd met. And tended towards the entertaining, rather than the bawdy. His touch was not that of a fledge, no raw recruit to be shaped or formed. But she never doubted his focus was on her.
Times like this, with the Captain's joke bride turning into a terror. With things, unsettled. That attention was something she needed.
Something must have shown on her face, because the trepidation in her husband's eyes was overtaken by mischief.
"Should I tell you the myth?" He pushed himself away from the wall and slowly stepped forward. "It was about Earth That Was." Another step, into her personal space and, almost, but not quite touching her. "It was about stars and pulsing and –" here a look of confusion interfered with the mischief and desire. "Wait, there was more but all I remember is the pulsing and headache." His hand reached for his head, but hers was quicker and stopped before he tapped the lump.
"You might not want to be touching that, when you could be touching me."
His arm froze, his eyes burned. "See I always did like smart women."
She may have issued a small growl at the plural. He may have shivered in a very satisfying way.
"You know, our berth's just that away." He jerked his head. "And ow! Remind me not to be doing that."
On any other human, the pout would be a sign of weakness or manipulation. Just showed how far gone she was on him, that cute was not a turn off. She gave his arm a bit of a tug. "Sometimes you have the best ideas." Ushering him forwards, she continued. "But most of the time..."
He followed her lead. "See I told her not many got the whys n hows of you and me." He hit the hatch and let her enter first. "Fact, I don't always get us." He started advancing on her again, close enough to touch without touching. Forcing her to step back, step back until she hit the edge of the bed. "Warrior woman like you. I did tell her you could kill me with your pinkie." The pinkie he grabbed with his own and pulled up for a kiss. "Just never said what I could do with mine." A slight push and she fell back, with him following on top of her. "One thing I know." He leaned forward for a kiss. "This beats a really good myth."
Attacking his mouth, she had to agree.
