"What's this? The third Wraith Queen in as many months?" McKay said beside the infirmary bed with a tablet as if to prove he wasn't fussing over Sheppard. John decided to leave him his illusions, for now.

"Yes Rodney, I can count that high. Look, one two," he began raising and dropping fingers on an upraised hand leaving the third finger to give a message of its own.

"Mature, Sheppard." McKay huffed. "No wonder they keep tossing you back."

"Hey, they didn't toss me back; it took some very manly fighting and maybe a flash bang or two." He was
really starting to understand why his Marines had a hard on for explosives. Not that he hadn't appreciated C4 in the past but..

"Fine when in doubt blow it up. Great to see all that Mensa potential being watered down to G.I. Joe simplicity."

"Wasn't the G.I. Joe motto 'Knowing is half the battle'? Wouldn't someone like you appreciate that?"

"Not when the other half was things that go boom."

"Nay – it was teamwork."

Sheppard relaxed into their normal banter. Not that he'd admit it, but this last encounter had shaken him more than he'd expected.

As was the way McKay stiffened at his last volley. "Not all of us spend undergrad fixated on cartoons, Colonel."

John let his head drop forward. Great. McKay was breaking out the ranks. He was the one who'd just escaped a hive ship, again. How'd the hell had he managed to piss the man off now? Luckily the matter was tabled as Beckett hustled to see him. He winced as the doctor readied a needle.

"Really it was just the usual." He did not squirm back on the bed. He was merely readjusting the covers. "Some man-handling, kneeling before the Queen, some chit chat – I offered her the new Lady Gaga tracks but she wasn't interested." Distraction was a tried and true technique. John just wondered who he was trying to distract as Beckett went through his blood drawing routine.

"Great at this rate we'll have to add genuphobia to the checklist Heightmeyer runs through, not that you actually made any of the mandatory counselling sessions." McKay was still looking at his tablet, the man could multi-task snark like no one's business.

"How do you know about missed," A glare cut him off but at least McKay was looking at him again. "Fine I don't want to know about random hacking jobs into sensitive information." John rewound McKay's comments in his mind. "Genu what?"

"Genuphobia – not one that I suffer from, not that I suffer from phobias since they are irrational fears and the things I fear are all too rational, although given the context I could see that..."

"Doc? Help me here are McKay has run-on syndrome again."

"Hmm?" Becket looked up from the blood pressure check. "All seems well here, laddie. Genuphobia, Rodney where do you come up with these? Colonel, it's a fear of knees."

"And kneeling. Not just knees and given how Wraith Queens are worse than mass what with the standing kneeling, no sitting though, it's a completely rational thing to check for."

"Aw Rodney, are you researching things to worry about now?" That earned him a particular glare, but one set to stun. "Really, I'm fine. Doc, could you tell him that the team is fine?"

"Ronan could have used a couple of stitches but he wouldn't sit still long enough and Teyla came through with narry a scratch." John watched as Carson got what was needed. "Despite the Colonel here saying so, they really are fine Rodney."

Sheppard was watching Rodney and was a bit worried when an expression he couldn't read crossed the guy's face. "But if you're worried, I'm sure some food from the mess would make things better."

"Good idea Sheppard. You can bring the pudding to my lab. There's a new devise Whitchurch found and, as much as it pains me to admit, it looks like a job for super gene." With that Rodney bustled out of the infirmary with only a "Chocolate" tossed over his shoulder.

John just shook his head. "Looks like I've got a side mission, Doc."

"Aye, it would be good if you can get him out of the lab. You know how he hates your time going off world without him."

John smirked and headed to the mess. Genuphobia. Given all that Pegasus threw at them who needed new fears? But it was nice to have people worried about him. Humming he wondered if the mess might have some butterscotch pudding too.
