Any advice for a newbie?
Oct. 5th, 2011 03:11 pmI have read many fics, but I am considering making my own mark on the community and beginning to write some of my own. For some reason, this makes me uber nervous. Do any of you amazing writers have any advice for me? Tips and techniques that work and things to avoid? Anything will be appreciated!
Much love!

Date: 2011-10-06 02:21 am (UTC)You will be amazed at how quickly a week goes by. Some prompts just seem to flow without thinking about them at all and others you have to work on. Or curse at. Sometimes both. If you get into the habit of writing every day (even a couple of sentences) then it helps on the days you only have a few words come out and you get a lot done when it's a story-flood.
Some stories will work for you. Others won't. But never throw away what you write. It could be an old bit of story you wrote has an idea or two that you need to play with. It could be that it's a story you need to write but it needs a little more time.
The most important thing, though, is to never, never, never give up.
Oh, and tea. Or maybe that's just for me.
