I think until this point, Wes's strength was from the externals, having been head boy, being named a watcher, being part of the secret Council. We've seen how his father ensured he had no self esteem, or at least not yet.
And yes the test was real (Princeton Review) and I took it as Wes and that was the outcome! Through research/procrastination you be the judge!
