Summary: "We have to tell him," whispered Lancelot.

The room was dark, only the moonlight shone a dim light through the window. Lancelot and Guinevere were lying in bed naked, their body intertwined.

"We have to tell him," whispered Lancelot. He was afraid someone could overhear them in the silence of the night.

"We can't. It'll be the end of us."

"I cannot go on like this Guinevere. Either we tell him or I never come back."

"You know it's not true. You always come back to me. You tried to leave before, remember." She pressed a kiss on his forehead. "I love you too much."

Lancelot sighed. "I know. But it's unfair on him. I have to face him everyday and lie. He is already noticing some things have changed. I'm just pretending I'm tired but he'll find out the truth. You know how he is. He cares too much about us."

Guinevere remained silent for a moment.

"I know Lance. I know." She hugged him ever closer to her, clinging to his body not to cry. "We'll tell him," she finally consented her voice muffled by his shoulder.

---*---

They were walking together through the forest. It had been a quiet day at Camelot and all three of them had been able to free themselves for the afternoon. It rarely happened and they always made it a rule to do something together whenever this happened.

Arthur sat on a tree trunk and motioned his wife and friend to sit beside him. They took a seat on either side of them.

"We're lucky to have this kingdom, aren't we."

They both nodded.

Arthur was about to go on, but Lancelot spoke first. "Arthur... there is something we need to tell you, Guinevere and me."

He took one of their hands in his and brought them together over his lap. "You're having what they call an affair."

The culprits remained silent, shocked that the king knew.

"Don't worry, I'm the only one who know. You have been careful, but you have both forgotten that I know you well."

"You knew and..." Guinevere couldn't finish her sentence.

"And I just let it happen. Yes. I see how happy you make each other and that's what matter. I can't give you that kind of happiness, not to either of you. It wouldn't be fair to stop it."

"What about you Arthur," asked Lancelot.

"It doesn't matter about me. I am the King. I am here to ensure my people are happy."

Arthur smiled reassuringly. "Go on with my blessing my friends, but please be careful. If this ever got public I would be unable to help you. I would have to condemn you both."

"Thank you Arthur," said Guinevere.

"We will be careful," added Lancelot.

Arthur kept his hands clasped on top of his wife and best friend's hands. He truly was happy for them. They were lucky to have found each other. He only hoped that the rest of the kingdom could see it like that too one day.

"Shall we go on with our walk then," he asked after a long moment of contented silence.

Everybody smiled as they got up and went on to enjoy the smells and sights of the forest together.
