Summary: Galahad stepped into the stables and walked directly to his horse.
Galahad stepped into the stables and walked directly to his horse. He had arrived the night before in Camelot and didn't know anyone yet. He had met the King and a fair share of knights during the banquet of the previous night but he could barely remember the names of half of them. The one knight he had wanted to see hadn't been there. Lancelot was away in a quest and the young man couldn't introduce himself for at least another month. He felt defeated already.
He walked to his horse and started to brush her gently.
"He's not there," he said suddenly to the horse. "It was probably childish of me to expect him there and then but...," he let his voice trailed off, unwilling to finish his thought. But I had wanted to meet my father.
"But I've met a lot of great knights," he exclaimed trying to end his previous sentence on a lighter notes. "I can wait to go on quest with them."
In that instant Galahad heard a noise from the entrance and stopped talking.
"Don't have any friends?"
Galahad jumped at the sound of the mocking voice, his heart skipping several beat at the sound of the voice. He turned around to find a pale boy with dark black hair leaning against the wall, grinning at him.
"I've arrived yesterday," he simply replied. "My name's Galahad," he continued extending a friendly hand to the other man. His heart was still thumping in his chest from the surprise but he did his best to ignore it.
"I know who you are," the other man replied as he leaned off the wall and walked closer to Galahad ignoring his hand. He walked behind the young man before coming back to face him.
"Nice," he said almost to himself.
"It's a good horse, a gift from my grand-father."
"I wasn't talking about the horse," the other man commented a chuckle in his voice.
"I... huh...," was all Galahad could reply as he felt his heart beat faster once more and his breathing accelerate.
"Oh my," the other man joked. "You are going to be easy."
Galahad clenched his jaws and tried to focus on his breathing. He wanted to ask the other man to stop his games and to behave decently, starting by sharing his name, but he couldn't utter a word as all his focus was on calming his breathing.
The other man took a step towards Galahad, unsettling him even more. He stopped as their bodies were a mere inch apart. He then leaned forward, brushing his cheek against Galahad's.
"My name's Mordred," he whispered in a low voice in the newcomer's ear. "We're going to have so much fun together," he added softly as he stepped back and walked away. Galahad watched him go, barely able to breath as he still felt the shiver that the warm breath of the other man had sent down his spine.
