Summary: "Do you think I'll be chosen to play the princess," Gwen asked nervously. She was lying on her back, her eyes fixed on the ceiling of her bedroom.

"Do you think I'll be chosen to play the princess," Gwen asked nervously. She was lying on her back, her eyes fixed on the ceiling of her bedroom.

"Of course you will," Morgana replied already bored by the conversation. She was leafing through a magazine, her body sprawl on Gwen's bed. "You always get picked for the lead."

"That's not true," Gwen protested raising herself up on her elbow.

"Really," Morgana asked sarcastically glancing heavily at her friend. "When have you not been picked as the princess?"

Gwen remained silent unable to find an answer to this question.

"The only real question is whether Lance or Arthur will be chosen as your shining knight," Morgana continued. "Any favourite," she teased her friend.

"I like them both and they can act well," Gwen said unable to decide lowering herself down.

"Right," Morgana sneered.

"What's wrong with you today Morgan? You're in a foul mood," Gwen stated her voice rising.

"And you're being repetitive," Morgan answered as she got up the bed. "I'm off to the kitchen. Dinner is not going to cook itself."

"Whatever," Gwen mumbled as her friend walked out of the room. She could never understood the mood swing that seem to occur in Morgana every time they mentioned a play. She used to love talking about actors and the theatre before. Gwen got up and walked to the kitchen. "Don't you like acting anymore?"

"Would you just drop it?" Morgana held the fridge door open, shielding her face from her friend.

"No. I've had enough of your bad mood at the mere mention of acting."

Morgana reached for the vegetable drawer and got a handful of carrots out. She inhaled deeply before closing the door, bracing herself to face her friend. She closed the door and turned around, laying the carrots on the table top separating her from Gwen.

"I said, I don't want to talk about it," she repeated her voice low. She had a tear running down her cheek.

"Morgana," Gwen's voice broke as she saw her friend's face. "What's wrong," she asked walked around to the table to reach her friend. She lay her hands on her shoulders and let her friend lean against her.

"Nothing," Morgana mumbled.

"You're a terrible liar."

"I don't want to talk about it," Morgana protested once more but her vehemence was gone and it was without strength that she pulled herself away from Gwen's arms.

Gwen looked at her silently for an instant. "Ok," she forfeited. "But you'll have to tell me eventually."

"Eventually," Morgana whispered back. "In the meantime there's carrots to peal," she commented.

"With a peeler it'll be easier," Gwen teased.

"You're not a princess yet, you can get it yourself," Morgana replied a small smile on her lips.

Gwen smiled back at her. "Wait until I am," she joked as she walked to the cutlery drawer. "What are we making anyway?"

"A carrot cake."

"For dinner?"

"I can start with dessert if I want to. While you're over there, grab the spices will you," Morgana added pointing to one of the shelves on the wall.

"As you wish," Gwen complied. "But I do think carrot cake for dinner is not going to please my dad."

"I think it will," Morgana replied. "Anyway he called and said he would strop by your grandma's house. She always has tons of food for us," she continued nonchalantly.

"You could have said earlier," Gwen protested.

"Wouldn't have been fun," Morgana said as she gestured to grab to the spices from Gwen's hands. Gwen handed them to her as she stuck her tongue out. Morgana laughed.

Hours later, they were back in Gwen's room, their belly full and mind half asleep. Morgana was lying awake on the spare mattress they had set up on the floor, while Gwen was dozing on her bed.

"About earlier," Morgana started timidly.

"Hummm..." Gwen mumbled.

"I didn't mean... when I didn't want to talk about the play... I..."

Gwen opened her eyes and rolled to her side. Her friend was facing her, an elbow propped onto the mattress, her head resting on her hands. Gwen looked at her inquisitively.

"I..." Morgana started again but no words would come out. She closed her eyes for an instant, her jaw tightening as she breathed deeply.

"Morgana," Gwen asked worried but before she could say another word, Morgana had propped herself on her knees and was kissing her gently on the lips. Gwen was unable to move for an instant and before she could react Morgana's lips were away from her.

"I didn't want to hear you talk about Lance and Arthur and how either of them would be perfect as your prince and..." She was cut off by Gwen sliding down her bed placing a finger on her lips before kissing her back.

"It's only for the play Morgana," she whispered as their lips parted. "They'll be lousy princes outside of it," she added as she lay down on the mattress with Morgana, tying their legs together and kissing her once more.
