There was something mesmerizing in the scene before their eyes. Mesmerizing, and completely unexpected.

"I definitely didn't see it coming", Doyle commented, his raised eyebrows at odds with his overall laid back attitude. He didn't really needed to state his opinion on the matter, however; he had had made it quite clear since the beginning of their trip. She was probably going to make him regret his rushed comments later.

Evan nodded, his eyes still glued on Angelina, who was finishing what she had started. Even if he hadn't mock the girl mrecilessly like Doyle had, he had to admit he had never thought she would be able to hold her own in a confrontation; even less that she would be more efficient than them. And yet, there they were.

The woman used her makeshift stick to smash a last skull before sending it rolling in the air and catching it as it descended. She looked around her, grinning, and spotted the men, who had retreated in the safety of the outside of the battle circle. She walked toward them, tiptoeing between the warrior she had put down during the last five minutes.

"That was a close call", she said pleasantly when she reached them. "Any idea where they were coming from?"

The men shook their head, no more private to the mission of their attackers than she was. They didn't know a lot about that whole trip anyway; only that they were here, wherever that "here" was, and that the only civilized place they had spotted was north. That was where they were going when they had been attacked, hoping to get some information on their situation, or on the reason they had woke up there in the first place. They didn't even know each other to begin with; and the recent events had proven that the amount of introduction they had shared earlier didn't mean they actually knew the others now.

"That was impressive", Evan said at last, after a moment of silence.

"Never thought I could do that, right?", Angelina said, not a little proud of herself. She planted her stick in the soil next to her feet. "Honestly, I wasn't sure I would do so well in an actual battle."

"So, that whole -" Doyle made a vague gesture toward the space where the warriors were still passed out, "bravura display over there was some kind of lucky trick?"

"Well", the woman said, glancing briefly over her shoulder, as to make sure their ennemies were still down, "I did a bit of training in stick martial arts when I was a majorette, but it was more out of curiosity than anything else. I had never use those techniques on the field before. So yes, I guess you could say I was lucky."

"I think you could say we were all lucky on this", Evan added, reflecting on how poorly the battle was going for them before Angeline picked up her stick. "Let's move on, now. I'd rather not be there when those guys are going to wake up."
