Brief summary: how Darla came to choose her profession.

Historical note: in the show, Darla is made into a vampire in 1609 in the Virginia colony (if I remember my Angel correctly). I find this an interesting choice, as Jamestown was not founded until 1607. So it seemed to me unlikely that Darla would have been born in Virginia. Thus I decided it might make sense she had come from London on ships owned by the Virginia Company of London – after all, the oldest profession always gets around…
Author’s note: contains references to crime and very underage sex. Also, “Darla” was not her given name. It was her vampire name, and her human name is unknown. I’m sure there’s fanwank about what it is. The name I have chosen is simply one of the small number of names that were in circulation at the time. Politically incorrect sentiments are also made; I’m afraid you have to accept that if you want reasonably realistic historical fic!
