That was something I caught onto in the Christmas eppy; Dean calls Sam a lot of names which, I know, is pretty usual for kids that age. I work with 12 year olds a LOT. But we could still see that Dean watched out for Sam, you know? Just not the way he does now. So I wondered how that had changed. (Because Sam's STILL an annoying little brother. ROFL ^_^)
I'm so glad I got that out there. I've read a lot of the fics you've mentioned, and sure, they're sweet and stuff, but they're not real enough. I have a little brother; I love the kid, would die for him. But there's days I wanna strangle him. Seriously. I know Dean feels the same way about his kid brother...
