Summary: There's a secret that fate wanted kept secret, and for many years, it was. Until it fell into the right hands of a Slayer who figured it out. As she searches for the missing piece to prove her point, there's a lot of people out there who want her dead because of it. Because this secret is going to change everything.

She'd kept them away before. Pushed them to safety, despite every part of her wishing she could keep them near her, to protect and hold and love. She'd done what was best, for that time. They'd made it to this point.

Maybe they had to be together to make it past this point, though.

Buffy inhaled slowly. “Okay. We'll stick together. Everyone else...”

“We'll leave first,” Giles decided. “Willow and I will create the distraction. Once we're out, Xander, Dawn, you both go. You three slip out last.”

The sound of glass breaking echoed down the hall again. Out of time. “Then go,” Buffy whispered, and together the group headed for the exit.
