Summary: What have Spike and Gunn been up to in Angel’s office?

Spike and Gunn backed out of the office as quickly as they could.

“Do you think he will notice?” Spike asked.

“It’s going to be hard for him to miss,” Gunn said shutting the door.

“Well we didn’t mean to make such a mess,” Spike said, “it just happened.”

“Maybe we didn’t,” Gunn said, “but we went in there with certain intent and at best a reckless disregard for the consequences.”

“Bloody hell they really did a number on your brain when they stuffed all that legal guff in there,” Spike said.

“Huh?”

“It sounded as if you were mustering a case against us lawyer boy,” Spike said as they hurried along the corridor trying to act normal.

“Sorry,” Gunn said, “it takes over. The simple argument is that we knew the consequences of using Angel’s office and chose to go there anyway, mens rea is what it’s called.”

“Guilty mind,” Spike frowned as he recalled Latin learnt so many years before.

“That’s the one,” Gunn said trying not to sound surprised that Spike knew the term, “we knew the risks and chose to do it regardless.”

“We haven’t got leg to stand on,” Spike said as they entered Gunn’s office, “he’ll figure it out and shish kebab us both. If you’re lucky it won’t be a killing blow. Me the cleaners will be vacuuming up in the morning. Really we didn’t have a choice, not after we saw them.”

“True,” agreed Gunn, “but will he see it that way?”

“Not a chance mate,” Spike said, “uptight bastard.”

“Well it was your idea to use his office,” Gunn said sitting down at his desk.

“You bought them,” Spike said pacing the room.

“You took them out of the box,” Gunn countered.

“How could I resist?” Spike sat on the corner of Gunn’s desk where the box was.

“I know,” said Gunn, “they are just so cool.” He stared at their box with pleasure.

“And you said we couldn’t do anything in your office that would risk your precious robots,” Spike added.

“But you were the one that said we should use his office.”

“You agreed,” Spike said.

“It does have the most space,” Gunn said sliding down in his chair.

“So we got a little excited,” Spike said. “It’s not as if we meant to do the damage.”

“Do you think that will matter to him?”

“Never has before,” Spike said moving over to sit down heavily on Gunn’s sofa.

“It was worth it though,” Gunn said.

“Hell yeah,” Spike agreed, “the noise and the lights. They were really realistic.”

“How about we use the underground car park next time,” Gunn suggested.

“Perfect, we’ll just make sure we stay away from the cars and nothing will get damaged,” Spike said.

“For now,” Gunn stood up, “we’ll just put them away and deny everything until he calls us on it.”

“Good call.” Spike handed Gunn the two special edition Star Wars Light Sabres complete with realistic lights and sounds, he had hidden in his jacket when they fled Angel’s office.

THE END
