I loved it! It fits nicely with the music and the book. You did a fantastic job getting Elphaba's emotions and thought processes through.

No; they'd each made her choice, and personally, she was sort of glad she was the only one leaving. She didn't want to taint her friend with this. Not her sunny spirit, however too bright it could sometimes be, or her sweet smile and voice she'd actually begun to enjoy.

That feels like such a perfect description of their friendship - especially when you consider their first impressions of each other and how Elphaba hated her voice at first.

She was a loner, now. Alone. She felt used and abused, ripped at the seams, no solid foot to stand on. Just the air beneath her as she flew, her green skin almost shimmering in the moonlight.

She'd always wanted to fly, to see the world from the eye of one above. Now, though, she didn't want any of it.

Oh, you make me hurt for her with those sentences.

Ironically, the person she'd liked the least, the one she'd loathed above all others, was the one who had come to her side, who'd taken her hand and stayed close when the voice had cried out, loud and booming, just what she apparently was.

Wicked.

She'd had to prove it, to lead their attention away. She hoped it was worth it: it was the least she could do, for the true support she'd received from the person she'd least expected to be able to call friend. To call a dear friend, a best friend. To call...

And again, such a great way to reference the friendship and how unlikely it was to them and everyone else. And I love how you give us this glimpse into her thoughts and what she's doing.

So, yes, this was great and now I need to go listen to that soundtrack! ^_^
