Part 1 | Part 2
The weekend’s at the door and Jensen’s plan is in gear. He feels slightly uncomfortable about surprises… he has always hated them but Jared on the other hand, loves them and Jensen is pretty sure he will love this one. Early Saturday morning he goes up the stairs, knocks on Jared’s door and waits. Predictably, Jared isn’t in a good mood when he comes to the door.
He lets Jensen in nothing more than a grunt and leads them into the kitchen. He doesn’t say a word before coffee is made. Jensen pets the dogs and talks to them instead.
“There,” he says handing a steaming mug to Jensen.
“Thanks.” Jensen tests it carefully but Jared’s coffee-making skills have improved recently.
Jared yawns. “Mind telling me what’s with the early visit? And the,” Jared points vaguely at Jensen’s middle, “the gear?”
Ignoring the early morning surliness, Jensen grins. “We’re going to the mountains this weekend.”
Jared lifts an eyebrow and tries to hide a small smile. “Is that so?”
“Yep. So you’d better wake up and take your shower, princess. Time’s a’wasting.”
Jared sniffs. “Yeah, just give me a second.”
Jensen rolls his eyes. “Hey, I know your ‘seconds’. Get going already.”
Jared yawns and leaves for his room.
Jensen sits in the living room, leafing through some photography magazines. At least the first part of his plan didn’t go wrong. Jared loves this stuff even more than Jensen does and so it is no big surprise that he isn’t too upset over the early morning. Jensen had worried only that with the heavy atmosphere of late, Jared might not react as well.
It takes Jared almost an hour to get ready but Jensen waits patiently. This is why he came so early – he knows Jared simply can’t pack in a hurry. When he finally gets out of his room, all showered, dressed and packed, Jared is frowning a little.
“I didn’t make any plans for Harley and Sadie…”
“Don’t worry, I did.”
“Wow,” Jared mocks. “This is starting to sound like a romantic weekend. Are you trying to give our fangirls a heart attack?”
Jensen snorts. “Don’t get any ideas.”
They leave the house, lock things up and get into Jensen’s car.
“Good thing you’re driving,” Jared says. “I need my beauty sleep.”
“Princess,” Jensen says, the insult rolling off his tongue with companionable ease.
“So where are we going, exactly?”
“I found a place on the Internet. It’s called Dreamworld and it’s supposed to have all sorts of interesting things to do. Bungee jumping included.”
“God, you’re such a bastard,” Jared says with venom.
Jensen just laughs. “All I’m saying is that maybe you want to give it another go, sometime. Maybe you’ll even jump this time.”
Jared flips him the bird and leans against the window, closing his eyes. “Wake me when we get there.”
Jensen puts the radio on, lowers the volume and tunes into a news station. So far, so good. No one would say they had been acting like jerks all week. He smiles, pleased and drives on.
