Author’s Notes: I am currently re-watching season 1 and this point in the show caught my attention. This is my first Nathan/Peter fic, I am getting used to the characters. I will be writing them a lot more in the future, mostly because I just became the Mod at [livejournal.com profile] flyingpetrellis and I want to get into so I can do a good job :D

Simone had just left and the bed was still unmade. Peter didn’t have the energy to do anything about it. He could feel Simone’s lips pressed against his own. He could still taste her. The warmth of her body.

He should be enjoying the quintessence of the moment. He loved Simone. She was beautiful, amazing, and so strong. How could he not love her?

Still, all he could remember was Nathan. All he could feel was that moment Nathan had told the world that he had tried to commit suicide. The hardness in his eyes because he couldn’t tell the world they could fly, because to him it didn’t even matter.

He hadn’t expected that. He didn’t care that Nathan had told everyone that. What others thought of him had never mattered. It was the fact that Nathan had said that, that he had done that to him.

Both Nathan and Simone were gone now.

They both had left. Nathan had gone to Las Vegas and Simone to work.

But it was the warmth of his brother he missed the most. In his eyes, in his voice, in his touch. The warmth of his skin. Peter missed it all. Instead, all he had was the coldness of his brother’s pity. Nathan had a campaign to run and Peter didn’t fit into that, he didn’t fit into his life. Not if he wanted to be himself.

Nathan had always accepted him for who he was. He had been the only one. Peter had never had to be anything more.

It used to be so easy.

There had been a moment when there was no Peter without Nathan and vice versa. They fit together, it had always been that way. Peter had always been Nathan’s and he had always had his brother.

Whenever Peter needed him Nathan had been there. He had never judged and he had never made Peter feel like the person he was wasn’t good enough.

It wasn’t that way anymore and Peter was tired of trying so hard. He hurt, he was always hurting now. Every word Nathan said, every lie he told, every dismissal. Each one cut and tore at him and Peter didn’t know how much longer he could remain hopeful.

Each day was getting harder and harder and he doubted if he could get through the campaign without actually becoming depressed.

He loved his brother, and it burned when Nathan treated him just like their parents always had.

One thing he did know was that he was special. He had the ability to fly and that meant something. That meant he was someone, that he mattered. It meant he could make a difference and Nathan couldn’t take that away from him.

His phone rang and Peter reached for looking down to see that it was Nathan. In that moment he made a choice. He set it back down.

He needed to find answers and it had been Nathan to give him the way to do so.

Suresh.

He needed to see Suresh.
