Since my English is best described as mid-atlantic I'm always worried that in the middle of a fic about Brits I'll burst out with some americanism and won't even notice :P
Oh, well, I do that all the time. :) Seriously... the tone of this piece is just right somehow. I'm a very visual reader. If the words don't evoke the images for me, then I just can't relate to the story, and you've done an excellent job of putting me in the English pub with the dark, dreary weather outside and the two of them at their table inside. I can hear them talking, and it's all just right.
