Author’s Notes: This was written because the prompt was too perfect. When the prompt of the week is Gossip than the fandom to do is Gossip Girl lol. I am a fan of both of these pairings and just diving into the fandom. Read, enjoy, and let me know what you think :D

Dan didn’t know what he was doing. Of course he usually didn’t know what he was doing, because if he did that would mean he would have thought things through and that was definitely something he hadn’t done. So, he had no clue what he was doing and why he kept falling into these situations. They just seemed to happen, or walked right into them and everyone else but him saw it coming.

Or they did, they definitely saw it coming.

Chuck made sense. He was Chuck Bass and when Dan had been told to try new things he had done it. He hadn’t meant to try Chuck Bass, or be tried by him, multiple times, for weeks.

It had started off simple enough. Chuck’s world had consisted of alcohol, drugs, and women. Things Dan wasn’t familiar with but could fake it. Okay, he couldn’t fake it, Chuck saw through him pretty easily but seemed amused by it so Dan got to stay.

And then got thrown in jail, and everything that happened after that.

The thing was after that they feel into a weird pattern. Chuck would call and Dan would meet up with him wherever he was told to at the moment. He had fallen even more into Chuck’s world. He wasn’t an active participant, most of the time he had a drink and followed Chuck around feeling out of place and more than a little confused why Chuck kept calling.

The reason became apparent when at 2 in the morning Chuck pushed him into the wall of the club mouth hot and demanding his fingers tightening in Dan’s hair. The thing that he probably shouldn’t have done that he did was kiss Chuck back, and get into the limo with him, and not say anything when it didn’t head to his house.

The calls came more often and Dan kept answering. He slept over at Chuck’s a lot, a hand on his bare hipbone and the other man warm behind him. He woke up to breakfast in bed prepared by a chef, he got rides to school in the limo, he found one of Chuck’s scarves wrapped around his neck under his coat most days, possessive, claiming.

Then Bart Bass died and any progressive he made with Chuck, any kind of relationship that was being built that the other man was allowing was destroyed. Because Chuck blamed his father. Sometimes Dan got the feeling that Chuck blamed him.

The scarf got buried under clothes in his drawer and over break Dan let himself tell someone for once. Because the thing was, the entire time something had been developing with Chuck no one noticed. No one suspected. They just assumed that Dan had somehow been accepted as a friend of Chuck Bass and Chuck had a reputation of being possessive of his friends.

Dan told Serena, and she didn’t look at him any differently. Of course she told Blair and Eric, and Eric told Jenny who as it turned out already knew. Apparently she had called Dan once and Chuck had answered, drunk. When she had asked when Dan was coming home he had said something graphic and completely inappropriate, he was Chuck Bass.

Dan had just started getting used to things again. Chuck had gone back to hating him and he had gone back to being almost relatively unnoticed.

No one had paid that close attention to what he had been doing with Chuck. No one thought twice of how possessive he had been with Dan, because Chuck was a possessive person to begin with. All they talked about was for a brief moment Dan had been a friend of Chuck Bass, and now he wasn’t.

Then it happened all over again.

With Nate.

Nate who for a brief time had live d with then, who he played soccer with, who had kissed his sister, who had been dating his best friend. Apparently, the teenage boys of the Upper East Side could swing whatever way they wanted and it was accepted.

With Chuck it had been fast and unexpected.

The thing with Nate had happened slowly and just as unexpected. They had brushed against each other while talking, had touched just a little bit longer than necessary, had watched just a little bit too long in the locker room.

When Nate had kissed him though it had been just as rough, his hand in Dan’s hair had been just as possessive, and it had been on the sidewalk in broad daylight in the park after they had gone for a run. The picture had appeared on Gossip Girl in the next post and everyone had known by the time school had started the next day.

Dan had been forewarned though by Jenny and he had expected a lot of things when he had gotten there that day. None of those things had been Nate walking up to him and tossing an arm around his shoulder, it certainly hadn’t been Nate’s fingers playing with the hair had the nape of his neck or his too wide smile daring anyone who had less money than him to say anything.

Another thing he hadn’t expected as Chuck. Chuck watching him with a look in his eyes that had disappeared the moment he noticed Dan looking. The smirk on his lips had been bitter and the fire in his eyes had been hateful. But Nate’s arm was still wrapped around him, warm and solid, and Dan had turned away from Chuck.

Chuck Bass had made his decision and Dan was making his.

Chuck had been fast and hard and painful. Nate wasn’t. Nate was solid, and warm, and there. Nate didn’t play games with him and he didn’t leave him confused. He gave Dan back everything he was getting and he didn’t run away.

So, Dan was making his choice and it wasn’t Chuck Bass.
