Okay, this question has been troubling me for a long time, and I've finally got the presence of mind to ask it before it's too late in the week:

Do we have to use the figure of speech presented in the prompt, or can we use any form of the word given?

In other words, do we have to use the word malevolence, or may we use malevolent?
