Title: Missing Warmth
Fandom: Original
Prompt: Revive
Warnings: *shrug*
Rating: PG 13
Summary: Tyler does what he can to help the merman. It's awesome how this prompt went so well with the last one for this story. ^_^

Laughing nervously, Tyler reset the now empty bowl and tucked the blankets around the frail body. “We can only hope.”
Zach knelt beside him, looking at the merman. “Maybe we should fill the tank below.” When Tyler looked at him in confusion, he shrugged. “This used to be a crabber. There’s an old tank that will be big enough to fit him in. You know, to keep him in water, if that’s what he needs.”
Tyler nodded in agreement, not knowing what else to do. He remained behind as the others set about filling the tank and taking the small vessel under control once again. He refilled the bowl with warm water and dipped the long, thin fingers of the merman into it, hoping that the beautiful creature would live.
His eyes trailed down the length of his tail, once again dumbfounded at the evidence before him. Mermaids just didn’t exist.
Unable to stop himself, he reached out and touched the tail, his glove keeping the texture from him, but not the firmness of the limb. Amazed, Tyler picked at the fin, lifting it and fanning it out. It was massive, thin, like sheer lace. He could clearly see his hand through the green membrane.
And it was cold. Frowning, he decided that no matter what, that wasn’t good. Nothing part human could live being that cold. His lips twisted into a frown as he contemplated how to warm him, and quickly. The water was doing nothing and it was going to take time to fill the tank. Even so, the tank was going to be filled with seawater, cold seawater.
Tyler stood and carefully gathered the merman into his arms, removing him from the chair they had put him in, and placing him on the cot against the wall. There was another one above it, and four on each side of those two. This one was his own, but he could make due with the floor if it meant the merman would revive quicker.
He took all the blankets from all the cots and piled them up on top of the merman before fishing under them for his hand once again. He clasped the hand between his own and began rubbing heat into it.
After a bit, he realized that this wasn’t working fast enough. Although he had to wonder if the cold was effecting him at all. He looked so thin, so small, so frail, but his coloring led Tyler to believe that he was a part of this arctic nature.
So why was he unwilling to wake up? It had to be the cold. Or maybe the ice was too much for him.
Tyler shot a glance over his shoulder at the door through which the others could pass at any moment, but decided to do what he knew he had to. He stood and began removing his coats and clothing. Quickly, he lifted the blankets and slid under, pulling the icy body close to his despite how his body began shivering in reaction. He had to get the critter warm as quickly as possible.
