Author’s Note: This is another excerpt from a fic I am working on. The prompt was used as inspiration for Brad's ex, who fully embodies the word and was actually a lot of fun to write.

“Oh my god, I’m right, I was hoping but this is too good.” Brad leaned in closer to him sounding delighted “I tried telling Mr. Glitter himself but he swore you were a 100 percent straight. Really, I think he was just trying to talk himself out of fucking you into the mattress.”

Kris pulled away, his body tense, and he muttered softly “Do you sometimes just talk to hear the sound of your voice.”

Brad grinned pulled Kris closer as the ex he had been pointing out came to stand in front of them, he nuzzled Kris’s ear his voice light “Yes.”

“Brad baby,” the taller guy grinned, his smile more teeth than anything else, and his arm was draped casually around the blonds shoulders, who was ignoring everyone else in favor of sucking on the guy’s neck like a leech “I can’t believe your showing your face around here again after what happened.”

Kris seriously did not like the guy, he was slimy, he made Kris uncomfortable, and he made Brad uncomfortable. The last part was what decided it for him, he had never seen Brad Bell uncomfortable, not even when he found him buck naked in his and Adam’s room at the mansion. He had just smiled at Kris as the other man had blushed and ducked into the bathroom.

“Well Enrique honey,” Brad’s voice dripped with scorn “we can’t all live in the past and you should have known a little thing like that wouldn’t keep me away from my favorite margarita. Plus, Kristopher here wanted to see a little bit of the town and who was I to deny him.” Brad flashed Kris a tender look, the smile on his lips tight and his eyes pleasing for him to just go along with it.

“Kristopher, I don’t believe we’ve meet.” Enrique leered at him and Kris instinctively stepped closer to Brad, till he was flush against the other man’s side. It wasn’t a bad fit; they were both the same size, Brad maybe being an inch or two taller but his muscles not as defined as Kris’s.

“I’m pretty sure I want to keep it that way.” He turned to Brad noting the barely concealed shock in his eyes and couldn’t help the small smile that touched his lips “So does this place actually have drinks? Because it’s not all that great from what I’ve seen of it.”

“Sure thing,” Brad grinned his hand slipping down into Kris’s and he let him, he got it, he knew what Brad was doing. Heck, Kris had seen it enough in college. When a guy went through a bad break up they would parade their newest girl in front of their ex, to make them jealous, to drive home that they were missing out.

Kris had never had to do it though. His brief separation for Katy then had been absent of any bitterness, and maybe that should have been a kind of sign he had missed. One that had read “feel something, miss this person”.

Maybe if they had cared more or had tried harder then Kris wouldn’t be divorced at 24.

Brad started pulling Kris to the bar and it was Enrique that halted them. his voice sounding just as slimy to Kris as the rest of him, and Kris really hated judging people he barely knew. “Why doesn’t Evan go with you, I’ll keep Kristopher company.”

Kris really didn’t like that idea, and he knew Brad was aware of that by the look he was giving him. But Kris had never been one to back away from things, and he wasn’t going to back away from this. He gave Brad a wide smile, acting on impulse and leaning forward to press a quick kiss to the corner of Brad’s mouth murmuring “I’ll be fine, get me a beer.”

It was daring, and it certainly wasn’t boring in the least.

“Sure thing sweet pie.” and really Kris could do without the pet names but Brad seemed to really enjoy them, in a scarily intense way. Kris turned to watch as Enrique pried the blond, Evan, off him with a hand in the guy’s hair and nudged him to where Brad was heading to the bar.

Kris buried his hands in his pockets, suddenly feeling out of place. He hadn’t felt that way with Brad crushed up against, but now with him gone he was just a guy in jeans and t-shirt surrounded by scantily dressed men and women, he didn’t exactly fit in.

“So Kristopher do you have a last name?” Enrique asked him, moving closer.

Kris took a step back, eyes hard “Not one I want to tell you.” He wasn’t really worried about getting recognized in this place, no one really seemed to care who a person was, and it seemed to be one of those clubs Adam had told him about one night on the tour bus. Adam had been talking about hitting the club circuit after the tour and Kris had asked if it was safe to, he was beginning to learn that fame came attached with a lot of cameras shoved into his face and following his every move. He knew it was worse for Adam.

Adam hadn’t been too concerned with that, apparently there were clubs that were big on security, where someone in the spotlight could cut loose and do something stupid and not a word of it would make it outside of the establishment. It’s why the cover fees numbered in the hundreds.

So he didn’t have to worry about giving his last name, he just really didn’t want to associate anymore with this guy then he had already. It made him wonder what Brad had seen in him. Sure, he wasn’t that close to Brad but he didn’t think the guy needed to dig that low for companionship. Brad had been with Adam, it had been really serious from what Adam had told him, so Brad obviously had pretty good taste and he was a good guy, if not a little intense to be around.

“You’re a feisty one aren’t you?” the taller man breathed out softly as he invaded Kris’s personal space.

“So I’ve been told.” Kris didn’t back away, instead he squared his shoulders and glared at Enrique “Would you mind backing up or do I actually have to say I’m not interested in you? Cause honestly dude I don’t go for douchebags.”

“Baby you don’t know what you go for; I doubt you’ve ever had a real man.”
