McCoy walked down the hallways of the Enterprise. He felt like eyes were watching him, but ignored the feeling. He'd had a long day in sickbay and he was looking forward to resting before the end of the day. He had an early morning shift and was hoping to get a total of six hours of sleep before that. As a doctor he knew you needed more sleep than that to be healthy, but his own health had always been his last concern.

The feeling of being watched was getting more intense. He wondered if perhaps a fourteen hour shift had been a little too much. He hadn't slept since the last away mission had come back on board. No one was injured, but an air born virus had affected everyone and given them flu like symptoms. It wasn't hard to cure, but it was hard to get rid of. He'd had to recycle of the whole ships air twice to clean it of all the virus. Near to the whole ship had been affected at one time or another. Worst yet, the captain had taken ill and that man was impossible. He'd refused to take the cure until the rest of the Crew was healed. It was noble, but that didn't mean he wasn't going to bitch the whole time he was feeling sick.

McCoy glanced around and noticed everyone he walked past was on edge. He'd seen most of them in sickbay today, and sure he'd been in a bad mood, but nothing worth this level of fear.

He walked to his room and the door slide open. The room was dark and when he requested the lights to come on they didn’t. He was instantly suspicious. He went in slowly, and kept his head turning back and forth.

Suddenly the lights went up, and the whole bridge crew was in his room.

“Happy Birthday, Bones!” Kirk explained pulling a cake with his name and age on it from behind his back. It barely fit in his hands.

“What the hell is going on?” McCoy demanded not amused at all.

“It’s your birthday party. Happy thirty-second,” Uhura said with a smile.

“I hear it is customary to give gifts at such events,” Spock said offering a plainly wrapped gift.

“Huh thanks,” McCoy said putting the present down than tried to force a smile, “Thank you all, but I’d really rather just go to bed. I’m not much for parties as you all know. So can you, please, get the hell out of me room!”

“McCoy we are sorry. I had no idea it vould upset you so much,” Pavel said his eyes getting big and rather sad. McCoy sighed and ran his hand over his place. He couldn’t stand Pavel’s puppy dog face. He had a feeling Kirk had put him near the door for a reason. Damn Jim!

“I guess I could open some presents before bed,” McCoy said and went towards the table they had set up in the middle of his room that was full of gifts and Kirk put the cake down beside them.

“Oh that’s good to hear,” Scotty said before turning on some horrible music over the sound system.

“Sorry man,” Sulu said behind him, putting a hand on his shoulder, “But it was Kirk’s idea.”

“I’m not at all surprised,” McCoy said turning and glaring at the other man, “and the illness today? Was that all in the set up?”

“No, not my idea. I’m not even that mischievous. It would have been great if I had thought it up,” Jim said before starting to laugh. McCoy glared at him and grabbed himself a piece of cake,
