Title: Would have never
Fandom: The Walking Dead (comic)
Rating: PG-13 for suggestive situations.
Summary: Andrea is thankful for zombies...how odd.

It shouldn’t be like this. She shouldn’t be happy and relieved to see him. There was one secure thing in her life and he wore a fisherman’s hat at all times. Andrea gave Dale a wave and he made his way up. She ignored his little grunts as his knees hurt. He’d done some work in the fields and it only made sense he’d be in some pain. She’d try to talk some sense into him about letting the other man handle it, but he’s just get sensitive about his age again. She didn’t want to have to listen to his self hate again.

“Good morning?” she asked resting her rifle against her leg. She’d had watch out duty, but it was so easy with the roamers behind a fence. It was odd to almost feel safe in a place for the first time in so long.

“I guess you could call it that,” Dale said sitting down in the lawn chair next to her. She reached out and took his hand for a moment. He gave her a little smile before focusing his attention on the gates.

She took a moment to look at him. If they had met in a grocery story, a diner, a bank, she won’t have given him a moment of time. If he was behind the desk she might have flirted, but nothing serious. Even if he hadn’t been married, which he would have been yet that wasn’t the point she was trying to make, she would have never given him the time. Not back when everything was focused on gentrification and the generalization of the human couple.

It took a zombie apocalypse to break down her shallow walls. Meeting Dale was the one good thing to come out of all this mess. If it never happened she would never have met this comforting, level headed, handsome, considerate, thoughtful, loving man. He was exactly what he’d been looking for, but couldn’t find in those young types she had always liked.

Dale looked over at her and raised a brow.

“Did I miss a spot shaving?” he asked with a teasing tone in his voice. She giggled and shook her head. She reached her hand over and ran it over his face. He had shaved today and it felt wonderfully smooth under her hand.

“Nope, perfect job. Feels amazing,” Andrea said giving him a wink. Dale blushed a soft red and rolled his eyes at her. He focused his eyes back on the walls and she kept her hand on his cheek not letting him ignore her. She ran her hand down his chest and than further.

“Andrea, you’re on watch,” he said but not too bluntly.

“Care to relieve me? If you do I promise to relieve  you,” she said slipping down onto her knees below the sight of those below them. When she’d first met him the idea of sex with Dale would have disgusted her, but now it was something she craved and looked forward too.

“You’re going to kill me young lady,” Dale complained taking her rifle and putting it beside him.

“Better me than them,” Andrea said motioning with her head back to the hoards of zombies before taking her own special bite out of him.
