Title: Sick
Fandom: Torchwood
Prompt: Languid
Summary: Sick days? Who needs sick days?

Tosh was exhausted. A layer of sweat covered  her body and she had tremors from time to time run though her body. The screen was starting to blur, but she kept working. She’d blink a few times and life would start to focus again. She felt a little dizzy too, not that it made her pause even for a second. After she got the program up and running she’d go and take a break. For now she had work to do and the last thing she wanted to do was let anyone down.

“Tosh?” came a voice to her right and the echo told her it was in the distance. She glanced up and gave Jack a languid smile.

“Anything I can do for you?” she asked wondering what work she had missed? All the news reports had been rewritten, all the video footage altered and false leads plants in the right place. Right now all she had to do was finish the formulas that would translate the alien data into Arabic and that’d be translatable. She thought she might be able to finish that, but more might be too much? Not that she’d say no.

“Tosh,” Jack said again and made a face as he came down the stairs and over to her. He stood right in front of her before pressing his palm into her forehead than onto her cheeks. Tosh jerked away and shook her head.

“I’m fine, Jack, thanks. What did you need?” she asked trying to ignore the concern that was in  his eyes.

“You’re sick. You should be at home,” Jack told her sternly.

“What’s the good of that?” she asked with a shrug, “I’ve got work to do and I can rest on my own time.”

“You stubborn little woman,” Jack said putting his thumb on her chin and smiling like he was taking a picture of the moment, “You look ready to keel over.”

“I’m fine, honest,” Tosh said than Jack took a step back.

“Stand up than,” Jack said and went Tosh went to argue he gave her a stern look. She sighed and stood up slowly. The room span and she had to grab onto the table. Jack came forward and put his hand on her hip and let her use his body to support her own.  How sick had she gotten?

“God what’s wrong with me?” she asked putting a hand to her forehead. Alien diseases? Airborne toxins?

“It would seem like the flu. Gwen got it a few weeks ago and stayed home,” Jack said putting extra emphasis on the last two words.

“It’s not like I run about. I sit. It’s not too bad,” Tosh argued, but lowered her eyes went Jack stared at  her.

All the sudden her feet were no longer under her and she was up in the air. Had she fallen? She was so out of sorts, but than there was a warm figure beside her. She realized with a start that Jack had picked her up. She rested her head on his shoulder and sighed.

“No getting out of this eh?” she asked and Jack shook his head.

“Not at all, I’m taking care of you myself,” Jack told her and she smiled. It was nice to be cared for.
