[identity profile] lit-gal.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] tamingthemuse
Once upon a time, there was a really cool new community called Kink-bingo. A friend talked me into signing up, and I worked so hard. I came in first that inaugural round even though it meant that I had to write a lot of kinks and a lot of fandoms I'd never tried before. After the standings came out, I waited... and waited... and waited. The joy of winning really dulled, until finally I made an award for myself and for those friends on my flist that had won. They were pretty awards, but they weren't real, and I never escaped the feeling that I had crept into someone else's party and taken a prize they didn't want me to have, and that feeling stayed with me when the real awards appeared eight months later.

Writing is hard. Writing is harder when you don't get recognized. I understand that.

So, mods, I'm probably stepping all over toes, and I'm sorry, but the lack of tracking isn't taming muses, it's abusing the muses, and we all have too much trouble getting those stubborn ladies to stay around already.

So, without permission from the mods or any particular authority, here is the current standing and awards of all authors active since prompt #213. Mods, I have been very careful about getting this right, but I am relying on tags, so authors who didn't tag their entries may have more stories that they can point to.

Runs include prompt 254 (From Whence) but not 255 (Jackhammer). I've left out a couple of randomly scattered stories that weren't included in runs or awards.

I have watched the HUGE amount of work you put into this with awe and would like to say, with much gratitude, thank you so much for everything you have done. I gave myself a mini celebration when I hit 30 weeks and seeing that that happened eleven weeks ago makes all the wiki searches figuring out meanings that made sense to me, laughing my head off at the tangents my muse took, and emailing [livejournal.com profile] theladymerlin saying "WTF have you seen this week's TtM?!!" just that little but more worthwhile!

I love this community - it kicks Lola up the butt every single week which gives me hope that my WiPs won't stay that way forever - and totally appreciate what you have done!!!

This is a wonderful community and one of my favourites. It has helped me with my writing so much. Thank you!!!

Lit, thanks so much for doing this for everyone. I really value and am grateful to this community and in future I'd love to do something else here. Sometimes knowing there is an award waiting for you gets you through it.

I remember that too. It's a very good memory. I have been thinking of returning to my YA novel and a place like this is the difference between finishing it and not getting on with it.

I think they would pick it up, but you'd have to ask them. I can't beta it for you since I don't read much m/m at the moment, maybe a phase, I don't know. I'm sure you'll find a wonderful beta for it.

No, I haven't left it. Just not reading it much. I seem very focused on a certain kind of story right now, sort of on the sweet side. I have been writing some m/f and m/m/f, but although I love writing it, I think I'm still finding my voice.

I do appreciate that. Hopefully I can read it sometime as a finished story. My fingers are crossed for you, like always.

Seconding what she said. I'm not technically a mod here anymore, but I still really appreciate you doing this for everyone. Lord knows I have no time anymore.

Thanks for doing this. I know I started with #190, but I ended up taking all the stories down because of plagarism issues. I will have to work harder the next time around. I have been writing, but no time to post.
Thanks again for all your hard work.

When I started, I was actually posting the story on TtM, so I had no choice, but to take them down. Now I've started with the links back to my LJ, so that shouldn't happen again. I didn't realize that someone could (or even would) steal my stuff. I didn't think it was worth stealing, but apparently someone did.

Nah, I have so little spare time that its not worth it. I'm not sure anyone was actually reading it anyway.

Thank you so much for doing this! I admit that the whole kerfluffle with my goddess award has made me nearly give up several times, and I'm glad to see that everyone here has gotten recognized for their hard work. I've been urging my friend to keep writing, and I think getting his award will help him get back to it, so thanks again for stepping in like this!
