Summary: Anna and Agathe are having a walk after dinner and things are about to change.
This story is a an occasion for me to play around with the main characters of my story for
timetraveler_bb. The general summary is: Anna and Agathe are reincarnated through the centuries. They spend all their lives looking for each other but sometimes it takes a while for them to remember the existence of the other. This time, in the 21st century, Anna remembers Agathe but doesn't know where she is, while Agathe doesn't remember anything.
Anna knew that Agathe had been remembering. There was no other way to explain her hesitant glances towards her when she thought she wasn't looking, or the violence of her reactions when their skins touched. But Anna needed more than that. She knew that at the moment only Agathe's body remembered her, traces of old memories were embed into her skin so deeply it couldn't help but react to her touch. But her brain, her soul, her heart... her - Agathe - she didn't remember.
She didn't understand what was happening to her body when she was in contact with Anna, she didn't know what to make of this new girl that was attracting her like a magnet without doing anything. Anna wanted to push her into remembering, to snap her awake and bring her Agathe back, the one that knew her, the one that loved her unconditionally. But at the same time she was afraid to do any move because it meant taking a risk and maybe making her loved one angry at her and send her away from her. So she waited.
It was well past midnight and in spite of the time the weather was still warm. Agathe had proposed that she and Anna take a digestive walk after the evening with her parents and they had ended up walking for miles through the villages and woods surrounding them. Anna had been a bit scared at the idea of walking unfamiliar paths into the forest at night but Agathe knew every corner of the woods surroundings her village and the ones next to hers. So Anna had simply taken Agathe's hand in hers for reassurance and had let herself be guided by the other woman. She had felt Agathe shuddered when their hands had touched but she hadn't removed hers and had kept her fingers entwined with Anna's.
They mostly hadn't spoken. Anna didn't know what to say and was still feeling a little too tipsy to trust her tongue so she had remained quiet letting Agathe lead the way and the conversation if ever she wanted to, but she also stayed silent. Sometimes Anna liked it better when they didn't speak because she could pretend the other woman knew exactly who she was and she could be happy, truly happy before remembering it was all a lie.
After a while Agathe stopped and they sat down in a little opening in the woods. The view was breathtaking. They could see all the villages in the valley below them, illuminated only by a few lamp streets and the stars shining bright in the sky. Anna looked up. She was always amazed to see so many stars in this place. She knew they were the same as when she had lived in New-York but here she could see them, really see them and there was so many of them...
She remained looking up for a few seconds before shifting her gaze to Agathe. The other woman was staring at her, her face unreadable. Anna's body froze for a second under that gaze. She knew it, she remembered it from the last time when she had been the one not knowing. It was that gaze that had changed her life, that had made her glued to the ground and enslaved her to Agathe willingly. Anna opened her mouth to speak but no words came out and instead it was Agathe who spoke.
"Kiss me."
Anna raised an eyebrow. Had she really heard her correctly?
"Kiss me."
She had.
"Please."
It was barely a whisper but Anna could hear all the ache and need in Agathe's voice so she stopped wondering about how strange the situation was, leaned into the other woman and started to kiss her. She didn't know what was happening and why Agathe had suddenly wanted to be kissed her. But it didn't matter, not when she felt Agathe's lips pressing against her, demanding and hungry for her. Her body was leaning hard against hers, her hands clutching at Anna's body. It hurt her but she didn't care. She knew what was happening by the way Agathe was hanging on to her. She was awaking to her memories, she was becoming complete, her Agathe.
Their lips parted and left them breathless. Agathe didn't move and Anna didn't dare disturb her. She only stroke her hair and back gently, assuring her by her gestures that everything would be alright. After a few long second like this Agathe broke the silence and whispered.
"I remember."
"I know," replied Anna, a smile on her face. "I know," she repeated more to herself than to Agathe.
Agathe's body shifted slightly and parted a bit from Anna, allowing her to stare deep into the other woman's eyes.
"I remember Anna."
She smiled, her face suddenly illuminated by the flow of knowledge that flooded her mind and body at that very moment. Anna simply smiled back at her, feeling tears of joy in her eyes. Her life could finally begin. Agathe was awake.
