Summary: Agathe is back in Cairo after an absence of a week.
Agathe opened the tent and walked in hoping she would find fresh water in it. She had long given up the hope that the air would be cooler or at least more bearable inside those tents. It seemed to always be the contrary and it felt more stuffy. She could almost swear that her clothes would stick to her a little bit more everytime she set foot in one of those tents. And this time was no different. The only relief was that Anna was in this tent. She hadn't seen her in days. She had been sent at an excavation sites a few miles away from here and she hadn't been able to come visit in more than a week. She had missed Anna.
She looked at the figure of her lover bent over a table, cleaning some fragments she had probably found earlier in the week. Agathe smiled at the sight of Anna hard at work. Her face was tight in concentration, her eyes glittering with the excitement of discovery and her gestures calm, controlled and extremely precise. Anna had never known how not to be fully concentrated on a job when she had decided to undertake something. She hadn't even heard Agathe come in.
"Hello darling," Agathe said, her voice low as not to disturb Anna too much.
At the sound of her voice the other woman raised her head and a smile suddenly illuminated her face. She let go of the fragment and brush she had been so busy with a second earlier and ran to Agathe, embracing her.
Agatha laughed.
"I've only been away for a week."
"I know," came the reply of the muffled voice of Anna against Agathe's neck, "but I've missed you all the same."
Agathe laughed again and shifted her body slightly to be able to gaze into Anna's eyes. They stared at each other for a few seconds, enjoying the fact that they were together before Agathe bent her head closer to Anna and pressed her lips onto hers.
She could feel Anna's body come closer to hers once again, her hands sliding under her shirt. She suddenly became remembered the heat and damp air that had made her all sweaty and almost uncomfortable, but right at this instant she didn't mind much, not when her lover's hands where touching her skin and that the warmth she could feel was not completely related to the temperature outside.
As they broke the kiss, their bodies still pressed against one another, Agathe spoke again.
"I've missed you too."
Anna smiled in response. They looked at each other silently for a few more seconds, enjoying the sight of the other before Anna moved her body away from Agathe, taking her hand in hers and leading her to the table where she had been a few moments earlier.
"Look at what we've found. It's quite extraordinary..."
Agathe didn't listen to her anymore. She only looked at her and the happiness in her face. She always wanted to see her with this smile on her face, this passion in her eyes and her body so close to her she could feel the heat emanating from her. Her surroundings may not be to her complete convenience but with Anna around it really didn't matter at all.
