In a tiny voice, a thin thread of sound between the two of them and the steamy water, Will begged, "Please--"
Dark eyes dilated and stared deeply into Will's as Reverend Liam rubbed the soap down, laving Will. The Reverend looked dazed, as if he was somehow under a spell. He dropped the soap a second time and it was his big, gentle hand that encircled Will so that Will bent forward, clutching Liam--
"Did I... Are you feeling better?"

*quotes used for Will's reading lesson are from Ranier Maria Rilke's Letters To A Young Poet, which is more recent than the setting of this story, but I couldn't resist using it since it spoke to the theme.
