Spike paused. That hadn't been what he'd expected. What would a human want with going to a vampire's lair? He’d be so easily killed.

Well, then, Spike resolved stiffly. He would just have to make sure that Xander wasn’t.

Facing Spike, Xander was surprised by the lack of evasion to be found there. He'd expected to have to fight every inch of the way for an agreement to be lead to the monster's lair. What he found was resolve granted in his favor.

'I’ll do this,' Spike said. 'But it has to be done my way.'
