Firsts

The next couple of days went by quickly as Xander fell into a new routine. Go to school, eat lunch with his friends then meet with Spike in the library for tutoring. The older boy hadn't threatened to spank Xander since the incident after PE, even going so far as to visibly distance himself from the nervous boy.

Xander wondered at the sudden difference in the blond as Spike was generally polite and to the point. He was afraid that his disobedience had caused the change and he hoped he hadn't lost the connection he'd felt that very first day.

They'd studied hard all afternoon, undisturbed since Giles was out – again. Xander was a little worried about the librarian who never seemed to be in the library anymore. He wondered if the Englishman had taken on a second job or maybe a girlfriend. Either way, the room was quiet except for Spike's prompting and Xander's recitation of the week's vocabulary words.

"Inertia."

"Inertia – a principal in physics that states that a body at rest will remain at rest and a body in motion will remain in motion until disturbed by an outside force."

"Very good."

"Why do I have to learn all these words?" Xander complained. "This is English class. Why do I have to know a word from physics? I'm not even taking physics."

"You'll be taking physics next year," Spike answered reasonably. "Besides, haven't you noticed that all the vocabulary words this week have something to do with science?"

Xander quickly scanned the list. Dissect, organism, photosynthesis, symbiosis, hypothesis, catalyst, isotope, kinetic, equilibrium. Xander snorted. "Pretty clever," he mused quietly. "Did she always do that or am I just an idiot?"

"You're not an idiot, Xander," Spike whispered quietly, rubbing the boy's arm gently. "You just never really cared before. But now that you know, you can be prepared, yeah."

"Yeah."

"Well," Spike said, pulling his hand away and retaining his calm persona. "You know the definition of inertia, but can you tell me what it means?"

Xander stared at the blond boy for a moment. "I just told you what it means. A body in motion…"

"No," Spike interrupted. "You told me the definition. I want you to tell me what it means. Explain it in Xander terms."

Hazel eyes rolled as the younger boy suddenly understood what Spike was asking. He looked around, trying to come up with a way for the words to make sense to him and be able to convey that to the older boy watching him. Spotting the water bottle on the table, Xander grinned as he reached over and picked up the bottle, quickly unscrewing the cap. He tipped the bottle slightly as he smiled at his tutor. Finally, a single drop fell from the lip of the bottle and splashed silently on the floor.

Xander looked up at Spike and smiled. "Due to inertia, if the floor hadn't been there, the drop of water would have kept falling. The water was the body in motion and the floor was the outside force."

A bright, white smile broke out over Spike's face as he clapped Xander hard on the shoulder. "Brilliant, really. Couldn't have explained it better myself."

A matching smile broke out across Xander's face and he felt really good about learning something for the first time in a very long time. The two boys stared at each other as the silence grew until Spike finally said, "Well, I think we're done for today. The week, actually. Probably should walk you home now."

As they stood, Xander stuffed his books into his bag before swinging it up onto his shoulder, following the leather clad blond out in the hallway and out of the school. They chatted for a while as they walked, filling the time that passed. Xander noticed that Spike was keeping a respectable distance and he wondered if the older boy didn't like him anymore.

They approached his house and Xander reached out to stop his companion when Spike turned to him and smiled.

"Hey," Spike started quietly. "Wanna come over to my house for a minute? I've got a book in my room that I want to show you."

Xander nearly jumped for joy but contained himself enough to nod his answer. Spike lead him through the front door and looked around the large living room before calling out, "Da?"

They waited for a minute before Spike shrugged, "Guess he's upstairs or something."

"You're sure he's here?" Xander asked.

"Yeah," the blond boy replied. "Saw his car outside. Another one too. You didn't notice? You should really pay better attention to your surroundings. You'd be surprised what you'd discover."

Xander nodded, even though he wasn't really sure what Spike was trying to tell him.

"Come on," Spike urged, turning to head upstairs. "My room's up here."

They moved toward the second floor, Xander followed in the black leather wake, when he heard a loud moan drift down toward him. Both boys froze for a moment before Spike turned to look at Xander over his shoulder.

They both slapped their hands over their mouths and rushed the rest of the way up the stairs and into Spike's room. Spike flopped down onto his bed, holding his sides as he laughed and Xander slid down the door, giggling helplessly.

"Sorry 'bout that," Spike apologized when he finally caught his breath.

"Well, I guess your dad's, uh, entertaining someone, huh?"

Spike snickered again. "Yeah, guess you could say that."

"She must not mind him being loud, I guess," Xander said, right before they heard a set of very loud, both very male, groans. Hazel eyes flew open wide as Xander gaped at Spike.

"Your dad's gay?!"

The question threw Spike into another round of hysterical laughter and he flopped back onto the bed again.

"My Da likes what he likes. Right now, it happens to be a male."

They quieted down, staring at each other for several long moments until Xander whispered, "What about you?"

Crystal blue eyes looked on curious hazel. "Me? I prefer boys. Girls are alright, but they aren't nearly as much fun."

"Really?" Xander croaked. "I couldn't imagine ever…"

His speech was cut off by another loud moan, followed by a strained, "Christ, yes, Ethan!"

Xander concentrated on the voices drifting toward them, his head cocked to the right. "Your dad's name is Ethan, right?"

"Yeah."

"So, he's with an English dude, right?"

"Yeah."

Curses drifted through the door again. "Oh, fuck yes, Rupert."

The two boys stared at each other as the sounds of sex poured over them. They both began speaking at the same time.

"Maybe I should..."

"We could just..."

They laughed lightly at each other until Xander finally whispered, "What's it like to kiss another boy?"

Spike stared, his blue eyes piercing Xander as he pressed harder against the door.

"You really want to know?"

Without thinking, the shaggy sable head nodded. Spike sat on the bed, frozen, staring. Slowly, he slid off the bed until he was kneeling beside his bed. Creeping forward on his hands and knees, the blond boy closed the distance between them until he was crouched over Xander's extended legs.

Without a single word, he stretched, the tendons in his neck pulled taut until their lips were separated by a mere breath's width. He paused before whispering, "Yeah?"

Xander swallowed hard before answering, "Yeah."

Spike closed the distance nearly before the word had left his lips and Xander gasped. Xander's head began to spin as the lips against his own took him and tasted him. He'd never kissed anyone before, if you didn't count family members...and Willow. It felt so new, so hot, and Xander couldn't help but arch into the sensation.

A warm, slickness swept across the seam of his lips and Xander immediately opened his mouth. Spike's tongue stole inside, gently stroking the delicate palate. It felt good, better than good, and the younger boy's hands crept up to thread in the platinum locks. He was shocked at how soft they felt as the curls wrapped around his tanned fingers.

He could hear panting and shouting and groaning and he didn't know where it was coming from and really didn't care. He felt lost and out of control and when Spike began to pull away, Xander whimpered and tried to pull the older boy back to him.

Spike quietly shushed him with a single finger to Xander's kiss swollen lips. When Xander finally calmed down, Spike smiled. "What do you think?"

"Yeah, that was all right."

They both laughed as the tension broke and Spike whispered, "I think it's time to get you home now."

Xander wanted to pout but he simply nodded. Spike reached up and pulled the tangled fingers from his hair before helping the boy up. After wobbling uncertainly for a few moments, Xander steadied himself and picked his bag up from the floor.

"You think they're done?" he asked quietly.

"Yeah. We should be safe to head out now. Da usually sleeps like the dead after a toss."

Xander shook his head, not really wanting to know how Spike knew that, but he obediently followed the other boy down the stairs. Spike steered the dazed boy toward his own house, one hand planted firmly in Xander's lower back. Xander turned and noted the two cars in the driveway, one Spike's, the others most likely his father's. He also spotted a beat up car parked on the street. Distantly, he thought it seemed familiar.

When they reached the basement door, Xander turned and smiled.

"So, I won't see you again until Monday?"

Spike smirked and purred, "You never know." The blond boy quickly leaned forward, stealing a small kiss before turning around and striding back toward home, his duster fluttering in his wake.

Xander licked his lips, trying to find the last tastes of spit and smoke and Spike before slipping inside his house.

It wasn't until he was in bed that night that Xander realized Spike never gave him the book.

I think that was the best definition of inertia that I ever saw. If my teacher had explained it like that, I might have understood it earlier ^-^
and the whole Ethan/Rupert sex thing was hilarious!

Clever, clever Spike. Xander can't say he was forced into anything when he was the one who wanted to be kissed.

I still feel very wicked reading this, but it doesn't stop me

Hee. Spike is very clever - first doing the withdrawal trick, to throw Xander off balance, then inviting him in and sharing Xander's fun at over hearing Ethan, like they were both kids and then allowing Xander to ask for the kiss... But Spike hasn't been a kid for a very long time.
The good thing about being late reading, is there is another to read immediately. So I'm off to do that, right now.
