Summary:
Lucy spits our her drink violently, the liquid almost hitting the scantily clad brunette three stools away.
She coughs a few times before slamming the tankard down and yelling, "You want to WHAT?"
Mirajane, still with wearing her usual closed eyed smile, turns to the ice mage, "I think what Lucy is asking is, why would you go out with Natsu?” She then opens her eyes, lifting a finger to her chin, “Don't you have a crush on Gray, Juvia?"
"Of course” Juvia says, lifting her chin and glaring at the white haired barmaid. “Juvia’s heart will always belong to Gray-sama.”
Happy tilts forward so he can see around Lucy's blonde hair, scratching his furred cheek his paw. "Umm. " I don't see how asking Natsu out is going to do that."
Lucy crosses her arms across her chest. "Yeah."
"Oh," Mirajane perksas she throws the wet towel into a nearby bucket under the bar. She leans across it towards Juvia, smiling, "You're planning to make Gray jealous."
Happy and Lucy straighten. Lucy holds her hands up shaking them slightly giving the water mage an embrassed smile, "Juvia, I think..."
"You've went from creepy stalker to weirdo." Happy cuts in smiling.
Lucy grabs her tankard and hits the cat creature in the face. Happy's head makes a loud thwack as it his the bar. "Couldn't you have said it more delicately." She turns back towards Juvia. "But I have to say, I don't think your plan will work."
Happy, dazed and sporting a huge lump on the side of his head, mumbles out a long. “Scarrrrrrrrrryyyyyyyy.”
"Juvia's plan will work." She slides the stool away from the bar to stand up. "Juvia has noticed that Natsu-san and Gray-sama are always competing with each other.
"Well, yeah," Lucy looks up thoughtfully, "I will admit, those two are extremely competive."
Juvia shakes her head, smiling. "And after much intense research, Juvia has learned that competition for a girl's heart can lead to intense declarations of feelings."
Frowning, Lucy tilts her head, "Research?"
Happy scrunches his own face, "Feelings?"
"Oh," Mirajane claps her hands together loudly. "You mean the manga I gave to you last week. I thought the idea sounded vaguely familiar."
Happy and Lucy freeze, as one they squeakingly slowly turn their heads to Juvia. “Manga.”
Juvia doves across the bar, grabbing Mirajane's hand and grasping it between her own. "And I thank you Mirajane-san of that inspirational book." Her smile twisiting into a creepy parody’s of Mirajane’s.
A few of the nearby mages take a few steps away from the group.
After the cloud of smoke clears, Kana puts down her drink and stares at the barmaid. "Mirajane."
She moves down the bar, "Yeah."
"What exactly did you lend her."
Mirajane pauses for a moment before responding cheerily. "I gave her that manga you left last week."
Happy's head hits the bar. His body trembling silently.
Lucy grabs the cat with both hands, worriedly "Happy, what's wrong." She then frowns when she realizes that the cat's trembling isn't fear but laughter.
"Kana," the cat begins only to be cut off by chuckles, "only reads high school shoujo manga."
