Title: Halo
Fandom: Original
Prompt: 366 - Sarcasm
Rating: Gen
Disclaimer: All mine !
Summary: Meg is trying to concentrate.
Meg closed her eyes, and shook her hands in the air in front of her. Sitting on a brightly-colored carpet in the center of the room, she focused on her breathing, going deeper and deeper while she connected with her inner potential. She could feel the positive energy of the place, waving around her from the magical items displayed on the bookshelves and the chests filling the walls. And, somewhere on her left, she perceived the crackling power of one restless werewolf. She tried to stay focused while the his increasing frustation came to crash on her peaceful aura, but, like rolling waves on the sharp wall of a cliff, it was slowly digging a hole in her defenses.
"You should show your anger a bit more, or people are gonna think you don't care about that story", she said evenly, eyes still closed, her focus failling more and more. She felt his irritation aiming at her, destroying the last of her attempt at concentration.
"Keep your sarcasm for you, woman", Cam growled from the place he had chosen to sit "Unless you plan to use it for your ... stuff ..." No need to be a gifted witch to feel the disdain in the werewolf's voice. He had a hard time taking Meg's craft seriously, used by years of life in a wolf pack to rely on physical power and material help. He was getting better, but in moment lke this one, the worst in him tended to resurface.
"May I remind you that it was your idea ?", the witch hissed, fidgeting on her spot to get a more comfortable position. She hadn't wanted to get involved in pack problems, and if she had eventually agreed, it was only for the sake of her friendship with Cam. There was no way she took all the blame now, because that big furry baby was bored. "It will be a lot faster if you would just stop sending negative energy all over the place."
She felt his angry eyes digging holes in her shoulders, but he stayed quiet. With a satisfied smile, Meg resumed her deep breathing. She quickly noticed he was trying his best to stay calm and let her work her magic. It didn't took her long to reach the state of conscious she needed to read people's halo, and carrying on the little job Cam had asked her to do.
"You can let the first one enter", she said as she opened her eyes. The werewolf got up, reached a door on the left wall with three big steps, opened it and barked at the youngsters on the other side. One of them came in slowly, worried about his packmaster's anger, and the strange witch's presence inside. Meg saw clearly the usual golden halo that circled every werewolf she'd ever known. His was darker from the stress he was experiencing at the moment. The young wolf walked to a single chair in front of her and sat down, his eyes never leaving Meg. When he was correctly settled, the witch waved her hand, and Cam began asking questions.
