It was lunch break, and everyone had gathered into Ameth's small office for a quick check-in lunch. Supernatural crime fighting wasn't just a friday nigh activity ; sometimes you had to used every time slot available.
Chinese food was passed from one to another while they were discussing the sup'nat' activity of the last days. Strange things had happened recently, and Marielle was pretty certain she saw something between a fox and a lizard in a back alley the night before. They would have to investigate that kind of creature in their after-work meeting. Rosalie probably couldn't even picture how a fox-lizard demon would look like, but, by the look on her face, she was trying really hard.
"Too bad you can't draw it", she finally gave up, annoyed at the prospect to have to wait for tonight to have a clear image of the creature. She knew it was going to bother her for the rest of the day. Marielle didn't pick it up, but she casted her a vexed look.
"My break is nearly over. Time for you to leave", Ameth informed them, his eyes on the mural clock that agremented the back wall of the room. The object had been painted by his children when they were little. It had more sentimental value than artistic merits ; somehow the objet managed to be horrible in the cutest way possible.
Marielle and Greyson left early ; they had the same lunch time than Ameth, and needed to be back at their office soon. Rosalie and Cam were picking up the Chinexe boxes before leaving, courteously leaving the room as clean as it was before they came in.
"Can I come after work to drop the boxes ?", Rosalie asked Ameth, as she fished some left-over shrimps from a food plate.
"Yes, off course. When will you be definitely kicked out of your place ?"
The question had been out before Ameth had seen the hand signals the woman made him, and Cam knew he hadn't been supposed to know about it. Whatever that "it" was.
"What ?" was all Cam thought about in the first place.
Rosalie looked sheepish. "I kinda ... don't have an appartment anymore", she said rather reluctantly. "With all the raises in electricity, and cable, and everything, I couldn't really afford it anymore, I guess. Owner got tired of waiting for his money."
"Where are you staying ?" The Chinese food and lunch hour were now forgotten.
"Couchsurfing. It isn't as bad as it sound, you know."
"Forget it. You're moving to my place."
When Rosalie stayed open-mouthed at Cam's firm and calm decision, Ameth showed them to the door. "I have clients to seen, guys."
"We're leaving, don't worry. We need to move your thing, anyway", he added for Rosalie before exiting the room.
The woman stared at the door for a few more seconds, before following the man. "But you don't even own a couch !"
Left alone in the room, Ameth knew he just saw what could be the most amazing association, or the biggest disaster, taking form.
