Summary: Tomorrow is a big day for Lauren.

"Tomorrow is the day", Betty stated, her eyes never leaving the sunset in front of them. Leaning against the old Chevrolet Camaro she had been driving since her first year of college, she tried to enjoy the beautiful view on the city they had from the spot they had found a few months after moving there, in Florida. She couldn't suppress her nervousness, nor the knot that had been tying her stomach during the last few days.

Sitting on the car hood, Lauren looked at her with a bright smile on her face, showing those dimples that made her look much younger than she actually was. "'T was about time", she said playfully. She was aware of the tension in her companion's shoulders and face, and maybe she should feel it too. Yet she was too happy, too excited to let worry dampen her mood.

They stayed like this for a few second, Betty staring at the sun, Lauren staring at her, the quietness of the park wrapping them both. At last Betty turned her face toward Lauren, and tried an apologetic smile. Tomorrow was a great day, the day they had been waiting for since college. Betty didn't want to spoil Lauren's mood. She was always finding amusement et wonder in everything around her, and she went into new challenges with her reckless good nature. And Betty couldn't help but worry for them both. Lauren thought it was the universe's way to maintain balance. Lauren always had strange, kinda philosophical opinion about life.

"Tomorrow you'll be up there, and it'll be my responsability to keep you unharmed ... to keep you alive ...", Betty whispered, her voice carrying enough in the silence for Lauren to hear her. "And you'll do just fine", she responded softly, her smile softening, the lines at the corner of her eyes deepening just a little. She jumped off the hood, and smoothed the back of her skirt without really thinking about it. She came to lean next to Betty, and they both watched the sky getting darker and darker.

"You'll stay with me the whole time, right ?" Lauren asked, already knowing the answer. It was their dream, the one they had shared for as long as they had known each other. None of them would miss being a part of it.

"I promise."

The sun was darting its last rays of the day, coloring the few clouds above in warm shades of pink and purple. Soon the stars would show up and take over the sky, surrounding the moon, like they did every night. Tomorrow, Lauren would see them in an entirely new way. Tomorrow, she would go up in the sky, ready to fulfill their space dreams. Maybe she should be afraid, even a little, but all she felt was excitment. It was an old dream, and a new adventure, dangerous of course, but so much more than that. It was the conclusion of years and years of research, and the beginning of something else. It was the wonderful result of their relationship, their very own baby, that would be born tomorrow. And while Lauren would be up among the stars, Betty would be there with her, albeit through the radio, helping her, guiding her, like she had done since they met. They would share those moments together. Lauren wasn't worried ; she knew she was in good hands.

"We should get back", Betty said after a while. "You need to rest. Tomorrow's a big day for you."

Lauren smiled at her. "For us."

Betty smiled back, and they both got into the car, and off to the first day of the rest of their lives.
