Title: Longer Than The Sun
Fandom: Smallville
Prompt: #392: Hinterlands
Warnings: Slash, Established Relationship, Underage
Rating: PG/K+
Summary:
Standing before the fields he had just bought, his sleek sports car behind him, Lex found it easy to forget that this tiny place wasn't the veritable hinterlands it seemed. There was, after all, what passed for a town less than twenty minutes away, and he could reach Metropolis in well less than a hour by helicopter if the need ever arose. Civilizations wasn't that far away, but for the first time, Lex thought with a smile, he really wouldn't mind it being so.
He surveyed the fields and didn't think of the money they would make him. He had every intention of making as little a profit as possible from this purchase, although he would have to convince Mister Kent otherwise. Jonathan Kent was going to be furious when he learned he had bought his farm from the bank, but Lex knew how to convince the farmer that it wasn't simply an act of good will without telling him the truth.
The truth was that buying his family's farm would enable him to be even closer to the young man who had captivated his attention. He would surely be able to see Clark every day now, to see him working his father's fields, to witness the hot, Summer sun glistening down on his naked, muscular chest . . . Lex made a mental note to make certain he started keeping several bottles of water in his trunk from this day forward. After all, if there was one thing he liked better than seeing Clark Kent hot and bothered, it was watching him cool off. His smile grew as his mind turned from that image to actually helping his lover cool off. Oh, yes, he was going to need plenty of water this Summer! He might do well to purchase a water bottling factor along with his new farm.
His grin turned humorous, and he looked again at the fields. He could see Clark already, in his mind's eye, laboring out in the field, reaping wheat, riding the tractor, husking corn with those strong hands of his . . . Also, if he timed his visits right, he could probably join Clark in partaking of his mother's finely home-cooked meals. Lex beamed, realizing he was truly happy and he had never made a better purchase in all of his life.
The rattling engine of an old truck approaching told him Jonathan would be arriving soon. He turned toward the sound, then back again to the fields. For just a moment, although he knew he was in school, he saw Clark riding a magnificent stallion and coming straight toward him through the field. The sun gleamed on his man, then on armor he would never wear as he looked like a Knight, back on him, and then simply upon the waving wheat as Lex heard Jonathan's truck stopping.
He turned toward his new business partner with a wide, smooth smile. He'd have a lot of talking to do this morning, but he would convince Mister Kent that they could both benefit greatly from this venture -- all without mentioning the added bonus of seeing his son half naked nearly every day. Lex's grin stayed in place as he offered his hand to Jonathan; his glower didn't faze him. Hardly anything did any more, now that his heart was full of love and joy warmer than any sunlight, love Jonathan's son had put there. Jonathan himself would never understand, but Lex knew already that his misunderstanding, his refusal to accept, and everything else he would do to try to stop their love would never succeed. Their love was hotter than the sun, and it would last longer than its seemingly endless rays, too.
