Title : Of Aurochs and Bandicoots
Rating : PG13
Word Count : 508
Prompt #411: Aurochs
Summary : Just another day at the bunker.
A/N: I don't know.  The prompt was hard and somehow I ended up writing this.  I don't have actual knowledge of Final Fantasy (I know it exists since I don't live in a cave, but otherwise...), and my last Crash Nitro Kart race was at least ten years ago. So well.  I guess I just wanted to have Cas and Charlie in the same thing.  I've also completely disregarded Season 9 finale, because I'm not ready to deal with it yet.
Disclaimer: → Supernatural isn't mine, neither are those video games.  I have nothing.

"Aurochs were magnificent and noble creatures. I don't understand why that team is called after them."

Castiel tilted his head, his eyes fixed on the screen where the blitzball game had just started. Sitting on the floor, Charlie shrugged, fingers dancing on the controller. "I don't know, they've been dead for thousands of years, so I guess they weren't that much of winners."

"Actually, the last female died during your 17th century. I was there when it happened. It was a sad day, seeing the last of her kind pass away."

They weren't much one could reply to such a statement, and Charlie chose to remain silent. She had other matters at hand, anyway, like leading the worst blitzball team of Spira to victory. Or trying to figure out what she was going to do now that she was back from Oz.

"Anything interesting?" Dean came out of the bunker's kitchen, beer in hand, and stopped next to Sam, who was browsing the Internet in search of any trace of supernatural activity on the continent. It seemed odd to be back to a life where they just dealt with one hunt at a time, without any super-villain ready to bring choas on Earth. Odd, but not unpleasant.

"A few weird deaths in a small town of Michigan. It could be a witch, maybe a coven." Or the result of an incredible happenstance, but it wasn't likely. "This one choked on her prize-winning pie", Sam went on, pointing at the picture of a smiling brunette in her forties, "a man impaled himself on a pipe, and an other one drowned in his pool. All during the last two weeks."

"That's a lot for a small town", Dean commented, getting a closer look at the screen. "Killing people with pie... I hate witches."

"If we get on the road now, we can be there by tomorrow afternoon."

"Awesome. What do we do with Freaks and Geeks over there?", Dean asked, looking up at the corner of the room where they had put the tv screen. Sam followed his stare to where Castiel now sat beside Charlie, the other controller in hands. Crash Nitro Kart had replaced Final Fantasy X on the screen, and an enthousiast Charlie was explaining the gameplay to a puzzled Cas.

"Isn't it against the rules of fairplay to bomb your opponent with missiles in a race?", the angel wondered.

"Not in this game. You're not gonna win if you don't play a little dirty."

"I see. It's a war."

"You could say that, yeah."

"Well, I don't think I want to have them in the way while we're hunting", Sam whispered to his brother. It wouldn't prevent Cas to hear him, but since the angel was pretty busy figuring out how to drive his kart, it should go unnoticed.

"Yeah, me neither", Dean agreed. "Let's hope they won't crash and burn the bunker while we're gone."

"Samandriel once suggested bandicoots should be bipedal, but I don't think it is what he had in mind", Castiel commented.
