Title: Forbidden Fruit
Part Two: Off Limits, wherein Brian is determined to stay away from Justin, no matter how much he wants him.
Rating: NC-17
Genre: Brian/Justin
Summary: AU: In Afghanistan, Brian is an ex-Marine mercenary charged with guarding a construction site for a new hospital. He's the love him and leave him type, but knows that sensitive 17-year-old artist Justin, the son of the construction ramrod, is forbidden fruit.
Warnings: I might choose to flock this in future due to the gritty setting. I'm not interested in debating the politics of the Middle East; it is merely the setting for this story.

Teaser: "It's okay to be scared sometimes, Sunshine."

Justin looked away, his cheekbones flushing at Brian's use of the nickname.

Brian knew he should knock off using it. Especially since he couldn't seem to stop himself from putting some suggestion into the word.

"I'm heading into Kabul and I plan to visit the hamman there," Brian said.

He pictured it. Steam. The rub down. Scrubbing away the toxins and then he'd exchange glances with someone who interested him and they'd head off to one of the discreet marble alcoves.

"A hamman!" Justin said, enthusiasm lighting his face. "I'd love to go with you."

"No, Justin," Brian said, a muscle in his jaw working. "It's not the kind of place for someone like you."

"How do you know that?" Justin's chin lifted in challenge. It was not adorable when the cub showed spirit, Brian reminded himself. It was tiresome.

"I just do."

"I don't see how, since you seem determined not to see me," Justin said. His voice broke a little and Brian felt his gut tighten in response. It wasn't in empathy, just...something.

"But I see you and I think...I think you're beautiful. The most beautiful man I've ever seen."

"You don't know what you're saying," Brian said calmly, ignoring the fact his heart was thudding.

Justin's smile was heartbreaking. That is, if Brian allowed himself to have a heart, which he did not.

"Sure, just ignore me! I'm just a stupid kid, right? No one wants to see me for who I am."
