Title: Time is a Thief (Verse Drabble)
Fandom:
BtVS/Teen Titans
Prompt: 428 - Bravura
Words: 577
Warnings: Unbeta'd

That night Xander got a glimpse of the Teen Titans with his own eyes for the first time. He was sitting on his roof and trying to figure out his next move, now that he had escaped HIVE and The Light. There was a crash and gravelly roar from a few blocks over and he couldn't resist the pull of his need to know what was going on.

The Titans were fighting Cinderblock tonight, Robin calling commands to his team with rapid-fire but well planned strategy. Xander settled on a nearby fire escape to watch the show. He hadn't made his presence known and since he wasn't in a costume he didn't draw any attention from the hero or his team. He was just another slack jawed civilian getting a thrill by watching the heroes.
Surveillance footage didn't do the reality of Robin justice. He was incredible to watch as he danced across the rooftops of Jump City, twirling his bo and flinging birdarangs with deadly precision. His body flexed and contorted with near impossible flexibility and strength. Where Cinderblock was stone and power, Robin became fluid, gracefully swirling around the large villain, striking again and again, eroding the bulky monster's concentration.
With this perfect view of the fight, Xander felt his interest in the Boy Wonder rekindling itself. He felt that same surge of delight and curiosity from the first time he had seen the hero. It had been lost in the politics at HIVE Academy, but now Xander was free to explore his interests without having to watch his back at every move. Seeing the heroes in person also meant that he was able to use his magic eyes. He wondered how many other people could say that they knew who the Titans were under their masks and costumes. Victor Stone he already knew, from his time with the HIVE, but Kori'ander, Garfield Logan and Dick Grayson were new to him.
Robin was Dick Grayson, ward to one of the richest men in the world. That meant Bruce Wayne had to be Batman. The thought made him shiver as if his knowledge would bring the Dark Knight out of the shadows. Xander felt the absolute glee at having broken into one of the biggest secrets in the world. He had thought he would need to research the Boy Wonder's identity to learn anything about him, but his life was the publicly consumed fodder of celebrity gossips from one side of the world to the other. Xander's mood was only dampened by the knowledge that his admiration of Robin's form was a little on the pervy side, considering that Xander was legal and Dick Grayson wasn't. A two year age gap was a lot when it meant the difference between 19 and 17.

It's not like he would have had a chance with the kid anyway. Villains and heroes were an explosive combination at the best of times and rich kids didn't slum it with street kids. He was outclassed in every way, but it just made him want the little hero more. If he couldn't sweep him off his feet romantically, which was a very unrealistic idea, then he would draw his attention through his skills. He would steal the show.

Xander was a thief, if he couldn't steal the Boy Wonder's heart then he would have to settle for gaining his enmity. Heroes were obligated to pursue criminals, he would just have to get his hero to chase him.
