Mona smoothly ended her recital, and was ushered quickly in backstage. Jamie could have chosen a better moment to injure himself, really. Luckily, the Granger twins were ready to take the stage, and nobody in the audience realised there had been an unexpected change in the show tonight.

"What happened, this time?", Mona asked in a grunt so very different than the enchanting voice she used to mesmerize the public.

"From what I gathered, Paulo dared him to juggle with knifes. One of them slipped, cut him, and after the others followed after that." Tony shook his head. "Those two, really. I don't know what we are going to do with them."

Mona winced, but didn't offer any advice. If she had her way, Jamie and Paulo would have left the cabaret long ago. "And Jamie couldn't wait for the end of my recital? There is a count in the audience tonight, Tony, and you gave half my time to those little twin brats!"

"I'm sorry, Mona, but Jamie is on stage after the twins, and he'll need time to clean up after you're finished. You'll get a longer act tomorrow, if you want."

"Tomorrow will be too late", Mona responded dryly before entering the dressroom Jamie and Paulo shared. She casted a disapproving glance at the mess populating the room, and joined Paulo next to the couch where Jamie was lying. He was badly cut, and covered in his own blood. He would need to freshen up indeed.

"Hey, Mona!", Jamie cried drunkenly when she kneeled at his middle.

"Belladonna, what have you given to him?", she asked Paulo, ignoring her patient.

"Some sherry. He said he was in pain", the young man answered sheepishly.

"And you've just given it to him, haven't you?" Mona rolled her eyes. "A little pain is not gonna kill him."

"Oooooh come on, Mona, it's not his fault if I'm irresistible", Jamie said happily. He winced when Mona removed the fabric of his shirt to have a better look at the biggest cut.

"At least, it's not infected yet." She looked him sharply in the eyes. "You're gonna have to shut up while I work, Jamie. One word and I'm out of here. I don't care if you have a show to make happen tonight." Jamie rolled his eyes, but nodded. "Great. Now, everybody out."

Tony had had to drag Paulo out of the room, but in a few minutes, Mona and Jamie were alone. The young man looked spent all of a sudden, and close to falling asleep, but the singer snapped him out of it.

"You know the game, kiddo. Get your clothes off. I'm not doing it myself."

Mona stood while he was undressing, and had to use all her willpower not to clean the place up while waiting. She would never understand why Tony was putting up with all the boys' shenanigans.

"I'm ready, Oh Great Healer."

Mona put her attention back on her patient, but not after having given him a pointed look. Those were to be his last words to her that night, or he would never have the chance to be healed again. The singer kneeled back next to the couch, and put her hand flat against his chest. Jamie winced when she touched one of his wounds, but said nothing. Mona took a deep breath, and began chanting softly, closing her eyes in the process. The magic of her notes came running through her fingers, invading Jamie's skin and working on his wounds. No particular light or anything showed the process to the outside world. Only a soft warmth imbued the boy's body, stronger where the wounds were. When Mona put her hands off him, the wounds were all gone.

"Thanks, Mona", Jamie said sincerely.

She rolled her eyes again, but her annoyance had diminished a lot during the healing process. "You should be more careful, Jamie", she said, getting up. "You may be immortal, but you're not immune to danger."

"But where would be the fun in all this?", the boy replied.

"Youth", stated Mona. "You'll never learn. Now get clead, and get dress. The show must go on."
