He leans back, alone in his frenemy's apartment, as the music of modern day blasts through the tiny walls. It's finally loud enough to drown out the hum of Ursula's many tanks, and if the landlord comes knocking, he couldn't care less. He may not have his magic, but he still manages to be both menacing and frightening. He'll spook the little, old lady quickly into running the other way.

He sighs as he closes his eyes and tries to focus on nothing. He lets the words take him away, but they're boring and hold very little interest for him until a smooth voice that reminds him of an old friend back in the Enchanted Forest catches his interest. Jareth had lived underground and so had managed to be one of the few powerful beings who had been missed by the curse that had taken the Enchanted Forest and its people to modern day.

He's not quite certain what a spaceship is or a Gemini, but other words in the song catch his attention. Even more so the throaty singer's voice pops ideas into his head unlike anything he's ever thought of, but now he considers them each. He can not reach Belle yet, and even when he does, he will not be able to force her to love him. He's going to have to work hard to win her love back.

He also doesn't have his magic, but as another song before this one sang, he does have his imagination. Suddenly, his wife is there again, dropping on her knees beside him, pleading with him to love her again. His tired lips curl up into a genuine smile, the first he's worn since she kicked him out of town, but even in his dreams, he's slow to accept her apology. After all, he does still burn from her betrayal.

But he still loves her. He still wants her, and when she touches him, his whole being melts. As Bowie croons in the background, Rumple becomes ever most lost in his dream. His breathing becomes shallowed as Belle undoes his leather pants, still on her knees before him. He lets her move. He lets her touch him. He lets her draw him out and run her hands over his staff.

His breath catches when she kisses him. His whole being tingles. Slowly, still murmuring her want for his forgiveness instead of demanding an apology he shouldn't have to give (after all, he was only trying to ensure their happily ever after), she lowers herself onto him. Her lips give his staff an almost reverent touch, but her tongue wraps around him, breaking a moan from Rumplestiltskin's physical lips.

He buries her hands in her long, brown hair, groaning in rhythm to the song and her motions. Her teeth draw against his tender flesh while her lips kiss him. Her hands work a new kind of magic on his staff. He's never wanted any one but her, and he's never wanted her as strongly as he does right now.

But then, suddenly, and far too soon, she draws her mouth from his staff and glowers up at him. Her pleas are long gone. Her love has also vanished from her eyes, replaced by a burning hatred that rips at his heart. "Belle," he whispers, trying desperately to hold onto her. "Belle, don't leave me! Please don't leave me! Not again!"

But even in his dreams, he can not hold to her. She passes right through his fingers. "I can not stay with you," she snarls at him, "Dark One. You chose power over me again. You always do; you always will. You chose it over your own son."

"How can you think you deserve a happy ending, Dark One? You don't. You never have, and you never will. That's why your son's dead."

"That's why I left you, why I kicked out and away from us all. You think I'm waiting for you? Ha! Milah was right to leave you! Hook is a better man! I don't love you, Rumplestiltskin! Nobody can love you! You're a dark, weak crocodile!"

Her eyes flash with fury as she snarls the words at him. No weapon has ever hurt as much as her anger and loss of belief in him. "But Belle," he moans in an entirely different way now. "Belle, please, I love you!"

"You don't know what love is. You don't choose power over somebody you love. You don't kill when you know they'll turn from you. You knew what you risked, and you did it any way. I'm gone. You'll never get me."

And with that, she disappears even in his dreams, leaving him sobbing, shaking, his own voice echoing in the tiny apartment. She is gone from him. She hates him. Even if he gets back into Storybrooke, he's not at all certain he can win back her love, but he has to try. He has to try, because he is broken without her. Much more than his body is broken now. His very soul is broken without her there to complete him.

Still shaking, Rumplestiltskin forces himself to rise. He slaps off the radio, cutting the next singer off in mid-syllable, and goes to the computer. It's past time he got back to Storybrooke, and when he does, he will make his dreams -- his good ones a reality. He will earn her love back, or he'll die trying to do so. Without Belle, after all, he's anything but whole.
