Willow had changed into jeans and the loosest shirt she had at hand. Maybe she could have come up with a looser shirt but that would have meant walking to the closet all topless and after the clothes fluke that didn't seem like such a good idea and besides Xander had skedaddled pretty quickly so it didn't much matter what she was wearing now.

But what if the fluke wasn't because of their clothes? What if it was her and Xander except it couldn't be because she loved Oz and Xander had … loved … probably loved Cordelia. Still, if it did happen again that'd be bad so maybe she should do something to stop it. But what? Were there even spells to make people less flukey?

It turns out there were? Google came up with a whole bunch of de-flukeing spells. They tended to be sort of temporary but the fluke had to be, well, sort of fluke-like. It's not like it could last.

The spells also needed to be anchored, tied to something physical. What could she anchor the spells to that they'd have on them at Homecoming? Maybe their clothes? But the clothes were flukey in the first place so maybe not. What wouldn't look out of place at a dance? Oh, oh, flowers! She could get some flowers and put the spell on them and Xander could wear one in his buttonhole and she could were a corsage or something.

So, what kind of flowers? She should probably go into research mode. It shouldn't be flowers that meant undying love or something. That might mess with the spell. From the Latin, flōr- meant flowers and in the Greek it was, uh, ánthos. Oh, wait, when they'd scanned Giles' texts on of the books had been Antho, uh, something. She brought up the links and there it was: Anthomancy.

Okay, love divination. Nope, definitely not. First flower of spring. First flower discovered on a Monday, you'll have good luck for the rest of the year? That didn't tell her the flower's magical association. Willow flipped back toward the front of the book. Oh, anthomancy, divination by flowers. It wasn't like that'd be any help unelsss there was one that said you'll be true friends forever and never, ever be flukey again. Okay, once more into the breach.

On the Meaning of Flora. Okay, that sounded more likely. She flipped open at random. Gladiolus: You pierce my heart. And no, there'd definitely be no heart piercing unless it was Buffy with a stake and that was only for vampires. Maybe Buffy should wear a gladiolus flower. Candytuft, that meant indifference but she didn't want to be indifferent, just less flukey. Oh, there was an index at the back. Friendship and the flowers listed were freesia and oak-leaf geranium which stood for – she flipped through the pages – true friendship and lasting friendship respectively.

Right, so, she had her spell now all she had to do was get the flowers and cast the spell. Willow took a deep breath. She could do this. No problem.
