Prompt #475 Titanic
Note: I had this idea and began it before having the time to refresh my buffyverse knowledge, so well...  Also it's not very clear in my head when this is happening, but I'll find out, eventually.

Travelling like the old days. He liked that. Sea transportation hadn’t changed much in the last hundred years or so, and walking around the deck under the night sky was like going back to that last cruise Dru and he had taken so many years ago. It hadn’t been an easy thing to get onboard back then, and feeding every night on such a small pool of humans had eventually shown, but a fortunate sinking had literally cleaned the boat of every piece of evidence. Those were the good times.

If the context today was far away from those memories, the company was somehow similar. A group of kids was eyeing Illyria from afar, muttering between themselves and looking uneasy. ‘Twas probably still about the incident from earlier that night. Blue didn’t care about acting human, and it was making the rest of the passengers nervous. Just like when Dru would say something cryptic and crazy around the good gentlemen and ladies of the upper crust, and leave them to exchange chocked glances.

“I fail to see the appeal in all this”, the demon commented with irritation, seeing Spike’s mouth blossoming in a half-smile at the memory. “This transportation mean is slow and tiny. Nothing is planned in case of an attack from the sea, and the recreational accommodations are unfit for either of us.”

The liner was the best of its generation, with multiple decks and the equivalent of a small town in amusements of every kind. Of course, all of this had to look petty to a prehistoric god like Illyria.

“Bored already, pet?”, he asked, amused even though boredom would probably make her a huge nuisance on a closed space like the boat.

“This surveillance work is worthless if we can’t take the lead of the boat and prepare proper defenses.” Ah yes, the lead. He had already had to talk her out of killing the captain, as it would not grant her the captaincy in his stead. She had then strongly suggested they use their strength to force the captain to reinforce security on the ship. It was sheer luck that he managed to make her realize having the boat looking like she had something to hide wasn’t the best idea. He doubted she was really convinced, but it was the best he could do.

“Relax, Blue. Discretion is our best shot, remember?” When the sulky frown on her face didn’t ease, the vampire decided to change subject. “How about we go and see that room they call a casino? Maybe they have a decent table of poker.”

“Yes. This card game amuses me. Find me some worthy opponents.” And without waiting for him, Illyria walked back to the inside of the ship, even though Spike was ready to bet she didn’t know where she was going. With a large, predatory smile, the vampire jogged to catch up with the demon. Teaching poker to the blue goddess had been something of a challenge, but the result was worth it; Spike had ever seen anyone bluff like she did. She could clean up the most experienced professional gambler with her icy, impassible face.
