Hello! I'm not new to the community, but I am a new (soon to be) participant and I have a question. I've checked the rules and read through a few fics (many, actually, but just a few since I realized I had a question) and I was wondering how exactly the prompt has to be used to count.

Does it need to be a verbatim use of the prompt? So that the words "Hello Darkness my old Friend" appear in the fic somewhere? Or can the fic be inspired in theme/tone/etc. by the prompt without actually using it verbatim?

Sorry if this is obvious and I'm missing it, but I don't want to screw up my first post! *lol*

Welcome to the group, and don't ever worry about asking if you aren't sure. As long as the fic has some tangential connection to the prompt, we're pretty open. My Control Issues chapter for this prompt simply had Jim remember how he would retreat to the dark and stare at the stars when he got stressed, so don't feel like you need to have the actual words in there... you may have a variation on the words or just the tone.
