After the Crater – Chapter 5c – It’s a Question of Power Part 3

Fandom: Angel the series

Pairing: Dawn/Wesley eventually a few other pairings and even a possibility of slash

Rating: PG eventually NC-17, I’m trying to get there

Summary: Dawn goes to LA after Chosen. In this chapter a second attempt at re-corporealizing Spike

Note: Hey I added more points of view I hope it’s not confusing.

It only took me 3 chapters but I finally got to the action

Set right after Chapter 5b

Dawn’s POV

“Spike!” I cried forgetting my anxiety about seeing him again. He was standing there before me looking stunned.

“Niblet.” He said with what seemed like awe in his eyes. It’s been 5 months since the last time I saw him and he looks exactly the same as he did the last time I saw him but then again he’s a vampire so that makes sense but you would think that dying and coming back would change him just a little, leave a visible mark for the world to see. I mean he saved the world and all he gets is to do is exist as a ghost, do you really think that’s fair? “Hi Wes.” I say quietly after a few moments of staring at Spike, it’s weird to see someone you thought you’d never see again.

“Dawn, I was just coming down to look for you. Harmony called me to tell me you were in with Angel, Spike interrupted me before I could come down to see you.”

“So you saw the poofter before you came up to see loverboy and me.”

 I turned to Wesley and he was pointedly avoiding my gaze. “Don’t worry bit I gave him the shovel talk.” I couldn’t help but grin

 

Spike’s POV

She looked so happy to see me I can’t believe the light in her eyes when she saw me. I can’t believe what she’s willing to do for me when she hasn’t seen me in 5 months and I didn’t contact anyone when I can back.

Once she got here things moved quickly. The first thing we had to do was to figure out how her being benign energy not evil would affect the equation. Apparently she would make it more powerful if the conduit was nuclear evil she was the equivalent of a dozen nuclear power plants. It makes me proud that my little girl has grown up so much in these last few months but I also missed so many important things. She’s decided to get her diploma; it kinda got pushed aside when Sunnydale emptied out for the First. She confessed to me that if she has the power to do this then, she wants to see what she can do magically with her Key powers. While we were sharing everyone else was running around searching for more parts for Fred’s machine. They wanted us out of the way so Dawn didn’t get hurt. She was still weak from when they’d taken her blood, like I said it’s always the blood. At one point when we were talking I just stopped and looked at her she turned and asked me what was wrong, at that moment I reached out and touched her face; Pavayne had taught me a few tricks. She was shocked at my touch. She looked like she was going to cry but Angel chose that moment to walk in with a replacement conducting ring and things really started heating up. It moved quickly at that point the blood was added to the mix and I stepped inside the ring the machine started humming and there was a giant burst of energy.

 

Wesley’s POV

I overheard Spike and Dawn talking. She wants to learn to do magic. Well it seems that with her blood she should be a natural I mean really why didn’t Rupert teach her something other to hide from the fighting. Why didn’t he teach anyone other than Buffy anything? The magic that Willow learned most came from someone else or from her readings there were very few mystical things that Rupert helped her with. How they all managed to survive on the Hellmouth is a shock to me. I should try and help Dawn with her powers maybe after this Fred can analyze her blood and help figure out what she could do. Fred doesn’t seem to know were she fits lately, I thought she was getting along with that Knox guy but she actually kicked him out of the lab today when she was working on Spike’s problem.

“Spike, step into the ring” I hear Fred say and the machine starts humming and lets out a great energy burst. Spike seems to be stuck in place as a strange change comes over him his hair lengthens and curls and it takes on a gingery blonde tone. Apparently Spike was a natural blonde.

 

 

I know I’m mean for stopping there but there should be more next week I have a full week off school I love going to a French university. Hopefully the next one will be longer.

Nice Dawn-babble there, it really showed her slightly panicky feelings when confronted with Spike again.
Interesting to see that Fred seems not to trust Knox too. I'm kind of hoping this AU is going to avoid the whole heartbreak of Illyria, but I am aware that that may not be right for what you are planning. I'm in your hands and I'm sure whatever happens, it will be right.
