After the Crater – Chapter 3.5 – Movie Night

Fandom: Angel the series

Pairing: Dawn/Wesley eventually a few other pairings and even a possibility of slash

Rating: PG eventually NC-17, I’m trying to get there

Summary: Dawn goes to LA after Chosen.

Dawn’s POV

Wesley’s coming over tonight. I have no idea what’s going to happen but he said he’s rent a few movies for us to watch. I’m making him dinner he thinks that I’m just going to pick something up from the diner but I’ve decided that I’m going to cook for him. It’s very female and girly to cook for someone but I want to. I don’t really cook that often but I’m better than Buffy, at least I think I am. I’ve decided on something that should be foolproof I’m going to make him chicken, potatoes and veggies. I should be able to do this, I really should.

 

Wesley’s POV

I’m running late, there were just a few things that I had to clear off my desk before I could leave, and as I was on my way out I ran into Spike who wanted to talk forever. When I finally leave the building I am already over thirty minutes late and I couldn’t call Dawn with Spike around because I don’t want either of them knowing that I’m talking to the other. I really don’t want Dawn to know that Spike’s alive, not yet.

 

Dawn’s POV

Where is he? He said that he’d be here over 45 minutes ago, but he’s still not here and there was no phone call to tell me he’d be late. But he never said that he’d be here right after work he just said that he’d be here after work at some point but he’s been off work for almost an hour and he’s not here. Why am I obsessing about this it’s not as if I’ve never been late for a meeting with him before, he’s probably just stuck at the office. What’s that smell, oh no dinner’s burning.

 

Wesley’s POV

I finally get on my way and realise that I should call Dawn and tell her I’m running late. She picks up the phone on the first ring. She sounds anxious. “Wesley?”

“Yea, sorry. I’m running a little late I should’ve called a little earlier.”

“Probably, sorry I’m a little anxious. I just burned the meal.”

“You cooked?”

“Yea I cooked what you didn’t think I could.”

“Well it sounds like you didn’t cook well.”

“Shut up. Could you pick something up on your way?”

“Yea. I’m sorry I got caught up at Wolfram and Hart.”

“See ya soon,”

By the time I get the food and I get to Dawn’s it’s after 8 and I’m starved. We sit down and dig into the pizza. I was treated to her anchovy song. She really is kinda cute when she lets her guard down. We talk about nothing for a little while and then she asks me what movies I got and that’s when I realise that I didn’t get the movies. Between being late and picking up dinner I forgot that I was supposed to stop and get the movies for our movie night. We head into her living room to see if there’s anything on TV. We ended up watching an old movie about a gang of street boys called Hue and Cry. I don’t think that Dawn remembers much she fell asleep on the couch within the first 5 minutes. I think the cooking and the fact that it didn’t turn out really exhausted her. She woke up for a few minutes when I left.

 

Dawn’s POV

I feel so embarrassed I fell asleep on the couch last night. What if I drooled? What if I really do talk in my sleep and that wasn’t just something that Buffy said to annoy me. I woke up long enough to lock the door behind Wesley after the movie was done but I have no idea what the movie was about. After Wes left I headed to my room and collapsed on my bed in my clothes on top of the covers.

I like the way this story is developing slowly, it makes it feel more real. And that last paragraph was a joy - the idea that Buffy put into Dawn's head and her fear that she drooled. *laughs* Nice.
