Faith has had exactly two knives that has meant anything to her.
The first she got when she was 16. Curved handle, slit blade- it was just a thing of fucking beauty. She never had felt more alive as she did when she wielded it, watching as it pierced through flesh.
But it didn't last. It was stolen, then lost, and then found, but the impact of it wasn't the same as it once was; it didn't give Faith the feelings of power, control and...home that it once did.
The other she had gotten about 4 months ago. When she stopped running and gave in. She gave in to her addiction to the kill, her sponsor being dust in the wind nowadays. If you ask Faith, she thinks that's what pushed B over the edge; what made her stop caring.
Her new knife is a reminder of that too. Slit from the point to right before the hilt, and the hilt- damn. Faith isn't a materialistic girl but she might have lit up at seeing that. It was straight, lines running along it, intertwining like a snake.
"I take it that you like it." Dean had said after he gave it to her. Faith made him scream with her show of gratitude.
She gets lost in the memories sometimes. Call her nostalgic or whatthefuckever. It's not like she loses focus.
Especially when it was time to play.
--------------------------
"This place smells like sex." Buffy said.
"I wonder why." Dean drawled, eyes still glazed.
Sam chuckled, halfheartedly, eyes fixed on Faith and the way she methodically worked. He almost laughed as the peaceful look she had on her face as she marked Gordon with shallow cuts. She was so beautiful like that, a deadly grace that he only saw embodied through two other people.
"Don't you think you should wake him up?" Sam asked.
Faith met his gaze with a smirk. "I think that's a great idea." She grabbed a blowtorch, couched behind Gordon and started it up on his fingernails. "WAKE UP!"
------------------------
Everything hurts. His veins were on fire, more so as he gained consciousness.
"He's coming back to us," a cheerful voice said. The sound ricocheted in his head.
"Faith stop." Sam's voice was cold and demanding and instantly the heat stopped. The burning and pain was another story.
"You're no fun." A voice behind him said. Gordon tried to turn but he didn't have to strain for long as the girl came into view. She stood next to the blond that he tried to rescue before, though she was now clothed. "You said that I could have some fun."
"You will Faith," Sam promised.
Gordon coughed. "Monsters. Vile-"
"Unclean, damned, dirty creatures," Dean finished for him.
"We've heard it all before." Buffy said.
Gordon glared at her. "What are you?"
"Human." Buffy said, then paused as if the sound of the word was strange on her tongue. "Mostly."
"Bullshit."
"It's true." Dean said as he stepped in front of Gordon. "Didn't think we'd find anyone like them but there she was..."
Gordon didn't ask which "she" he was referring to. It was obvious that Dean was lost in his own memories. Sam shook his head at how easily Dean could be distracted by sex sometimes.
"I'm not going to lie to you Gordon," Sam said. "This is going to be painful." He walked to the elder man and bent next to him. "And I'm going to enjoy it. But it can stop anytime. You just have to ask nicely."
Beg, grovel, and plead.
Gordon heard the undercurrent of what Sam was saying and vowed right then to never give him the satisfaction of seeing him break. "Go to hell."
Sam laughed. "I was hoping you'd say that." He turned back to the brunette behind him. "Faith, you wanted to play?"
Faith smiled and took her place in front of Gordon. "You know, I dropped out of school so I missed a lot of stuff." She pulled a small bottle out of her pocket. "Like science. I missed experiments. Like what happens when you pour hydrochloric acid on open wounds." She poured the acid along the cuts on Gordon's arm, smiling as he hissed.
"Faith." Faith turned to Buffy to see the blond pointing the forgotten blowtorch laying at Gordon's feet.
"See? I keep forgetting things." Faith laughed. She bent and picked it up. She turned it on and looked at Gordon with an almost apologetic look. "You're supposed to add heat."
Gordon rolled his head back and did something that he hadn't done since he was 18.
He prayed.
