Summary: with the prompt ‘always faithful’ my first thought was Spike and Dru in Season Two of BtVS.

Remembering an earlier story I wrote where Spike turned Giles in the 1980’s http://lilithbint.livejournal.com/42939.html I decided it was a perfect way to bring in my new universe. Spike and Dru still come to Sunnydale but Ripper is with them, things do not always follow canon. This is going to be a longer, darker series for me but this is just a snippet to set the scene.
Set around Season 2 BtVS from Halloween onwards.

“My dark knight,” Drusilla raised her hand up to caress Spike’s face weakly, “my protector, my sweet Willy.”

Spike leaned into Dru’s touch briefly. “Do you want to play for a bit?” He dragged a young boy over to her bed.

“Not right now Spikey his whimpering would block out the stars and I do so want to hear the stars.” She tilted her head as if listening.

Spike sighed, “waste not,” he said and sank his fangs into the boy’s neck. Dru was getting weaker and weaker and although Ripper was searching they still didn’t know how to fix it.

The slayer kept getting in the way of his plans, even calling the Turaka wasn’t working and he was fast running out of time and patience. Hands slipped around his waist under his tee shirt to rake gently on his skin, “you’re too stressed,” Ripper nuzzled into his neck, “let me relax you sire.”

“Not going to relax until you tell me we can fix her,” Spike said with a growl but he let Ripper continue.

“I’m close sire, really close,” Ripper nipped at Spike’s ear, “I’ve sent a minion out to get the key to the puzzle.”

“Good,” Spike reached around and pulled Ripper to his knees. Every since that night in the alley Ripper had known what to do for Spike whether it was using his talented mouth to bring Spike off or his talented brain to fix the problems Spike’s impatient nature caused.

Dru had taken to their faithful puppy immediately, and actively encouraged his dabbling into magic. Magic that more than once got them out of a jam like in Prague. It was just a damn shame that Ripper hadn’t been faster there, but at least he knew where to come to try and fix it.

Ripper was always ready for a bit of trouble sometimes rivalling Spike for recklessness and bravado, and given Spike fresh eyes for the way Angelus used to react to the trouble Spike caused. Fortunately Ripper was smart too, a perfect compliment to Spike who was smart but preferred action.

Forever in the prime of his early twenties Ripper was happy to service his sire and his mistress whenever they commanded. He was strong enough to make a good protector when Spike was distracted and took to Dru’s games of pain with shivering delight.

He had found a new toy for them too. The boy from the alley, Ethan, older now but still stirring up trouble, this time for the slayer and her pets. He had come willingly to the fold once Ripper approached him still locked in the submissive role he had taken so many years ago.

Ripper enjoyed there being another puppy in the pack that Dru could play dress up with while he and Spike spent time together. They had a mild inconvenience when their past came back to haunt them and tried to take Ethan, but Ripper refused to give up his toy. Ethan had tried to pass it to the slayer which would have been a good plan if not for Angelus and the Watcher.

Ripper’s skilled mouth brought Spike to release quickly and relaxed the blond. Lazily opening his eyes Spike looked over at Dru who was engrossed in her tarot cards. Pulling Ripper up Spike kissed him briefly on the forehead and wandered over to Dru.

“What’s wrong pet?” he asked at her sad expression.

“Too much bad coming,” she said sweeping up the cards, “bad choices but you and Ripper can make a difference.” She frowned at the cards then giggled, “I will see the sunflowers so don’t be too mad at daddy. He fell for the icky slayer but he is still our daddy.”

“Your daddy Dru,” Spike said with a growl, “not mine, not anymore.”

“You are a better daddy anyway,” Dru said as she fell back onto the bed pulling Spike with her, “curl up with me a while both of you,” she commanded, “my two faithful knights.”

A little worried Spike rolled Dru over so she was cradled against his chest and Ripper crawled up to curl around them both from the front. Try as they might neither could convince Dru to explain what she had said.

When the minion came back with the cross Ripper crawled off the bed carefully to find the book and finish the translation without waking his sire and his dark princess.

Ripper’s whoop of joy pulled Spike out of a pleasant dream where he was bathing in the slayer’s blood while pounding into Angelus’ tight arse.

“This better be good news,” he said to Ripper, “or I will rip you a new one.”

“I know how to fix things all we need is the blood of her sire,” Ripper said with a wild grin, “and guess who just contacted us to say that a certain sire was getting all smoky in his bar?”

Spike picked up the still sleepy Dru and danced her around the room, “you’re going to be alright princess, Ripper is going to fix you.”

Dru laughed as Spike danced her around the room. He placed her gently down on a chair and grabbed Ripper for a repeat performance, waltzing his childe around the room as Dru clapped with delight.

“Right,” Spike stopped dancing suddenly, “lets go get daddy.”

Spike bound Drusilla’s hands to Angel’s and pushed the dagger through. Angel arched with agony and Dru sighed. They could all see the magic rippling through the pierced hands into Dru.

The doors to the church burst open and Willy entered with several minions holding onto the slayer. Spike growled with anger and strode over to confront them. Ripper went to stand beside Spike curious to get close to his first slayer. A part of him wondered about what his life would have been like if he had not been turned. Would he have become a watcher to one like her? Mostly though, he didn’t care she threatened his sire and he didn’t like it.

Then another girl who smelt like a slayer entered and Ripper was fully occupied fighting her. He was tossed aside like a child and the slayer was fully occupied by the assassin. Waiting for his chance Ripper watched as Spike took on the blonde one before she was able to release Angel.

It all became too chaotic to follow until Ripper realised that the old church was on fire and Angelus was free. He turned in time to see the slayer throw the incense censor across the room propelling his sire and princess into the old pipe organ which collapsed on top of them with a thundering crash.

In the confusion Ripper waited impatiently for the slayer and her gang to leave letting the flames lick across his hands rather than give away his presence.

Finally he was able to tear through the rubble in frantic despair to find his sire. He reached a booted leg and pulled Spike free then turned to find Drusilla.

A wild howl of grief stopped his search. Turning around Ripper saw Spike tearing at his face and clothes.

“Sire, Spike,” Ripper grabbed his hands, “what’s wrong?”

“She’s all over me I felt her go,” Spike’s voice cracked, “she’s not here anymore.”

Desperately Ripper tried to stop Spike from harming himself. His face was burnt and his body was covered in wounds from the fight with the slayer, but his eyes were dead with grief and that frightened Ripper.

“Come away sire, please,” Ripper begged. When Spike resisted still trying to claw the dust from his body Ripper had no choice but to knock him unconscious.

“I’m sorry sire,” Ripper whispered as he picked the slender body up in his arms, “we’ll make them pay I promise.” It was up to him now to protect his sire prove his loyalty, and keep his sire from joining Drusilla and leaving him alone.

but his eyes were dead with grief and that frightened Ripper. Given that manic is his usual disposition, this detail really shows the depths of Spike's grief.

Wow...a Dru-less Spike with an Avenging Ripper...looking forward to future troubles!

Yes, I knew this would be interesting - Dru dead and Spike hurt and Ripper vengeful. Lots of possibilities.
So, did Buffy survive? I suppose she must have. But who is her watcher? Is it stuck up Wesley, or has he mellowed, as Giles did, and become more the Wes of AtS? Or is it someone else. You are going to write more of this, yes?

Small catch - you need a 'd' on 'cause' here to fix the problems Spike’s impatient nature cause.

It's amazing how easily Ripper was inserted into this bit. Nice job. (But then, we're all aware how much I love the dark boys...)

I especially liked, "...there being another puppy in the pack that Dru could play dress up with..." This phrase really worked for me. :)
