Summary: There's a secret that fate wanted kept secret, and for many years, it was. Until it fell into the right hands of a Slayer who figured it out. As she searches for the missing piece to prove her point, there's a lot of people out there who want her dead because of it. Because this secret is going to change everything.

“I don't know,” Angel said, and Spike felt his fear amplified by Angel's. “I can't...I can't reach her. I've tried. Been trying, ever since we came to. I got you out, and then it exploded and...”
“Things get a bit hazy, yeah,” Spike murmured. “We've gotta find her. Those men were Council, Angel.”
“I don't smell her blood,” Angel said, but the news didn't thrill either of them. “I don't think they killed her.”
Which meant they'd taken her. Spike felt real, true fear solidify inside of him for the first time in many years. “How the hell are we supposed to find her? If the connection's not workin'-”
“Erig,” Angel said firmly. He'd been thinking on this for awhile then. “We need to get back to the city and back to Erig.”
It was as good a plan as any, and Spike forced himself to his feet and up to the road.
