Title: Chinese Takeout
Fandom: BtVS
Pairing: Spike/Dru
Rating: PG
Prompt: #104 – Cuisine
Summary: Spike tries to teach Dru how to use chopsticks.
Food always tasted better just after feeding, the warm blood pumping in your dead veins.
I would have preferred hamburgers, but Dru wanted Chinese takeout.
“The little red balls look like baby hearts,” she said in wonderment.
“Sweet and sour pork, luv,” I said as I snatched the last lemon ball and chomped down with gusto.
She stared at the chopsticks in front of her before furrowing her brow and biting her lower lip.
“Is, my William, sure I can eat with sticks and not get hurt?”
I tapped my two sticks together before I said, “never let anything hurt you, ducks.”
She nodded her head, and with unwavering trust she picked up her chopsticks.
She awkwardly placed the two sticks between her thumb and finger. She bit her tongue, something Dru always did when she concentrated hard, and tried to grab a pork ball.
With a massive grin plastered on my face, I watched her try and catch her meal. I snorted when it rolled away from her a third time.
“It won’t let me eat it,” she said with a pout. She looked more delicious then the meal that laid out before us.
I leaned over and took one of the chopsticks away from her.
She raised her eyebrow, a look I caught her practicing a few years ago. When I asked her what she was doing she said.
“My William looks so handsome when he does this; I want to look handsome too.”
Dru stared at the chopstick in her hand and asked, “How can I catch the baby heart with only one stick?”
The innocence in her eyes and the childlike way she asked the question made my dead heart skip a beat.
“Stake it like a slayer,” I said with a devilish grin.
She giggled as she raised her chopstick like a stake. There was a determined sparkle in her dark, brown eyes that made me hard within seconds.
She stabbed the pork ball and I clutched my dead heart and shouted out.
“Oi, Slayer, you got me!”
She covered her laughter with one hand as she slapped me lightly on the shoulder with the other.
It was moments like this that made me fear that eternity would never be enough time.

Date: 2008-07-20 06:03 pm (UTC)Just as an FYI - there is a 500 word minimum limit for your entries each week to count toward an award. This one is just shy of 400 and so doesn't meet the challenge for the week.
